Days of watercolors and analogous colors

Hace un par de meses les había comentado que dibujo y técnicas gráficas no eran mi mejor materia. La verdad me llevó muy mal con el arte de dibujar y no es lo mío, aunque estoy estudiando diseño gráfico. Siento que no es lo mío porque dibujo es arte y el diseño no es arte, el diseño es otro conjunto de cosas que, si bien se inspira un poco en el arte, no significan lo mismo. Pero debo decir que sorprendentemente se me da un poco mejor pintar que dibujar, así que estaba muy emocionada cuando me enteré de que este trimestre íbamos a ver técnicas de pintura y eso es genial para poder transmitir ideas.

Esta semana con clases, acabo de terminar la semana para mí, ya que solo veo cuatro días de clase. En estos días dos veces me tocó ver la materia técnica de representaciones gráficas, donde estuvimos utilizando acuarelas. Yo me compré acuarelas del trimestre pasado junto con el blog para poder pintar y las había hecho como dos cositas bastante sencillas. Pero en la primera clase nos tocó hacer un ejercicio de hacer como un Pantone de nuestras acuarelas y también de hacer un melocotón, que fue como mentira favorita porque siento que quedó mucho mejor de lo que yo esperaba. Y en esta última clase nos tocó hacer un degradado o un gradiente, que también se dio bastante bien.

Tengo que entregar la semana que viene el melocotón final, así que tengo que hacerlo nuevamente y espero que me salga mejor, ya que tiene que tener textura y todas esas cosas. Además de que en la última clase no nos dio tiempo a hacer una flor, que estaba bastante bonita y estoy planeando hacerlo este fin de semana. Así que sorprendentemente las acuarelas se me dan mejor que el dibujo y simplemente quería compartirles un poco de esta experiencia. Espero que les haya encantado, nos leemos pronto!

A couple of months ago, I mentioned that drawing and graphic techniques were not my strongest subjects. The truth is that I struggled with the art of drawing and it is not my forte, even though I am studying graphic design. I feel like it's not my thing because drawing is art and design is not art; design is another set of things that, while inspired a little by art, don't mean the same thing. But I must say that, surprisingly, I'm a little better at painting than drawing, so I was very excited when I found out that this quarter we were going to look at painting techniques, which is great for conveying ideas.

This week of classes is over for me, as I only have four days of class. These days, I had to take the technical subject of graphic representations twice, where we used watercolors. I bought watercolors last quarter along with the blog so I could paint, and I had done two fairly simple things with them. But in the first class, we had to do an exercise to make a Pantone of our watercolors and also to paint a peach, which was like a favorite lie because I feel like it turned out much better than I expected. And in this last class, we had to do a gradient, which also turned out pretty well.

I have to turn in the final peach next week, so I have to do it again and I hope it turns out better, since it has to have texture and all that stuff. Plus, in the last class we didn't have time to do a flower, which was pretty nice, and I'm planning to do it this weekend.
