Serving Kindness In A Plate - PhotoFeed Contest Street Photography 159

It's always heartwarming to see people engage in one act of kindness or another. It's even more heartwarming when the act of kindness tends to benefit not just one person, but the public. Today, I witnessed what you'd call "serving kindness in a plate" at one of the popular locations in my city - Ehere junction, formerly Opobo junction.

A kind-hearted caterer took up the initiative to serve lunch to the public. To achieve this, she set up a mobile kitchen there, and prepared one of our local cuisines, our legendary Egusi (melon) soup with Onugbu (Bitterleaf) paired with Fufu and Garri swallow.

The aroma wafting from her pot was irresistible, drawing in a crowd of onlookers and hungry individuals alike.

But what struck me most was her generosity - she not only served hot meals on the spot, but also packaged takeaway bags of dry rice and condiments for people to enjoy later. I was really amazed by her thoughtful gestures and couldn't help but capture the scene, just to share with you, my amazing friends. 😍

I also recorded a video which I equally shared on my Facebook. You can watch it here.

You know, in our society today, where many struggle to feed or make ends meet, this caterer's act of kindness was a breath of fresh air. I saw how the people - old, young, even street urchins formed a queue to be served - no discrimination, just a line of hungry individuals waiting their turn. And the woman, she was all smiles as she served, happy to provide for those in need.

Then, it struck me - acts of kindness truly know no bounds, they can bring people together regardless of background or circumstance.

This woman's gesture is a soft reminder that even in the midst of economic challenges, there are still individuals who choose to make a difference in their communities.

I hope this story will inspire us to always share, even a small act of kindness, because kindness makes the world go round!
