Cleaning Up Ko Lek Beach - 700kg of Trash collected around Koh Lipe, Thailand

Hey everyone! Yesterday we went to the Local Beach CleanUp Initiative called "@DoItByHeart" or better say - TrashHeroes! This was created by a Swiss Man, who lived already 25 Years on this beautiful Island Koh Lipe. He have the Cafe Lipe - which is the Base Starting Point every Monday for all people that are interested in picking up trash. They meet at 09:45 AM at the Cafe and then leaving Koh Lipe by Boat at 10:00 AM.

No Morning before Coffee/Donation!

But first of all we need Coffee in the morning. The Capitan of the Boat also needs Coffee. But not only Coffee - he also need some Baht collected for the Diesel to get the engine working and the boat going ;) So, Darius collecting some Baht for the Driver.

10:00 AM - Let's GO!

At 10AM we started to get on the Boat and cruised to the today direction. Our Trash Collecting Point for this Day was the Small Beach of the Island called "Ko Lek". The Last time there was a cleanup there was roughly a half a year ago.

The drive time was roughly about an hour from the koh lipe cafe starting point - meanwhile cruising through the ocean we had the chance to see the beatiful national park islands around koh lipe.

After an hour of driving we arrived that Ko Lek Beach and jumped out of the Boat to see what's going on the Beach. And well... i was realy not expecting this huge amount of trash washed to the beach. I was expecting some Trash, but what we saw there was just mindblowing crazy amount of trash :(

PICKING UP THE TRASH

So everyone took a fishernet start collecting the trash lying on the beach. for nearly 1.5hrs of collecting we gathered a huge amount of trash - if i correctly remember it was around 700 Kilograms of trash collected.

We putted everything together in one place to get an overview what we have collected sofar and after we finished the cleaning - or better say - we ran out of nets to collect even more trash - we started to put it all on the boat to bring back to koh lipe

After putting all the Trash on the Boat we drove back to Koh Lipe and put the Trash to the Beach where then some local catching up all the trash - seperating it and bringing it inside the island to a place where it's get cleaned, recycled and safely stored. After a while the trash will get to the Mainland of Thailand by a big Boat.

Then we walked back to the starting point - Cafe Lipe - and had Lunch - a nice Potato Salad, fresh baked Bread and Water. After the Lunch we onboarded @doitbyheart and setup his tablet to further posting about the cleanups around koh lipe. This day i will not forget - so much trash - a good action from all of us and i think i got a little sunburn aswell - the sun was very very strong this day.
