Quote from the UNESCO website: "Panama Viejo is the oldest European settlement on the Pacific coast of America, founded in 1519 by the conquistador Pedrarias Davila. The city had a rectangular grid layout, which reflected the transition that took place in Europe to the idea of a planned city. Left in the middle XVII century, it was replaced by the "New City" (historic district), which also retained the original street plan, architecture and an unusual mixture of different styles - Spanish, French and emerging American. Salon Bolivar - the place where, in 1826, this liberator of the former Spanish colonies (El Libertador) made an unsuccessful attempt to convene a continental congress uniting them.

The object consists of two parts: abandoned by the inhabitants of Old Panama and the historical part of modern Panama. I started with Old Panama, which the noble Spanish invaders founded in 1519, built temples, monasteries, a square and a governor's palace, and were sacked and destroyed by the cunning British invaders under the leadership of Henry Morgan a century and a half later. They decided to rebuild the city in another place, better protected from enemy attacks, and the ruins of Old Panama turned into a forest, over which only the bell tower of the former cathedral stuck out. Now the bell tower offers a view of the skyscrapers of modern Panama.
