Walk Around the Village

It's spring here in the Southern hemisphere, but winter is not keen to leave our shores! Many days start sunny with the promise of a real spring day, but then along come clouds and blustery, icy winds!
That does not stop me from exploring my new surroundings though.
I now live in a secure estate, getting in and out is not easy without the residents providing access codes, so I feel very safe. The speed limit inside the village is 25 km per hour, and yes, they do speed trapping! The internal roads are quiet with the slow-moving traffic, some up and down hills, and the gardens are beautifully kept. I see the odd resident getting around in golf carts, but most still lead busy lives and use their cars. I decided to keep mine, even though there is a bus and a privately operated transport service. A girl needs her independence while she's able! I will make use of the bus for longer distances.
Le Domaine was initially designed for the active over-fifties, but is now open to buyers of all ages. This model of the original village, done twenty-one years ago, is on display in the beautiful and well-appointed clubhouse.

Taking a walk to the Northern village where there's a recreation area with a pool, a gas and charcoal braai (barbeque), open to all residents, on a first-come, first-served basis. There's a lovely small lake with weavers actively building nests from the large trees. The free-standing cottages overlooking this tranquil area must come at a higher price. Many have solar panels, which is becoming almost a necessity for our country with its power outages.
I'm going to photo-bomb the sights of this area. There were people at the swimming pool and braai area, so I did not intrude. See the reflections in the lake.

I'm sure you notice just how green the vegetation is, despite it being the end of winter. Kwazulu-Natal is like this; known for its rolling green hills and colourful flowers.
A busy bee is enjoying the nectar from the Sour Fig flower. This plant also has medicinal properties.

Back to the weavers 'village' where the 'guardian of the sentry' is keeping a watchful eye:)

Returning to the clubhouse to explore what's on offer downstairs, but firstly checking the view from the outside balcony of the restaurant.

There was an exercise class on the go in the gym downstairs, and aquarobics in the heated pool. I am very interested in booking a treatment in the health hydro, and am desperately in need of a decent haircut! These services, and more, are very affordable, especially designed to take care of the needs (and wants) of village residents. There is even a small medical centre with physiotherapists, doctors, basic nursing care, as well as other medical specialists visiting weekly. Ummm, like the audiologist, who I need to hear see.

There is a myriad of activities, many are free of charge. The pool table was occupied, and I did not want to intrude there either. Of course, there's a bowling green and tennis courts, with many clubs playing league games, much to the amusement of Bonginkosi, who works for me once a week. He chuckles when he sees the silvery oldies on the greens.

I'm looking forward to seeing shows at the outdoor amphitheatre. One thing's for sure, I'm not going to get bored here, now that I am finally officially in retirement; there's always something happening in this village!

Hey @lizelle you are welcome.
Thanks for using @worldmappin 😘
Gosh, that looks very POSH!! I hope you find it to your liking, hmm, will all that standing water attract mosquitoes in the summer?
The clubhouse is very posh, as are some people, but then most are just ordinary folk like me. There are many women here, men are the endangered species; I'm told they're very much in demand, and a new species of women here are called the 'casserole ladies'😂🤣
LOL, yes I read about your "casserole ladies", that would I am sure be a USP if advertised!
Or maybe not😅
Wow! That looks like an ultra luxury life milady. A beautiful place indeed and you cannot have asked for better. Now you will have to give your racing helmet away, as there are speeding fines in the place 🤣
!PIZZA and !LUV
Haha my friend, I'll keep the racing helmet for the freeways😄
The clubhouse is beautiful and there's a whole lot of good things happening there, I'm truly blessed!
Only a joke, milady, and Marian also says, that you now live in such a great place.
You are indeed blessed.

That looks so amazing! I'm so happy for you. It looks absolutely gorgeous and you seem really happy there. What are those birds? Are they the ones that build those amazing nests?
I'm very happy that I decided to buy here, and that my brother and his wife are only a 5 min drive away.
It's so tranquil. As I'm in the middle of the village, there's no noise of traffic from the main road, only the sound of birds singing.
Yes, that's a weaver finch, they're very active at the moment, quite a sight seeing the nests swinging to and fro at certain times of the day as they dart in and out!
Oh, Lizelle, this looks fantastic. I am so glad that you still get to see Bonginkosi!
It's so lovely and so peaceful here, the nosey-parker has calmed down and has been quite helpful. It's mostly ladies around me. Each building only has 4 units, the lady above me is younger, but we have very similar interests. She sadly lost her hubby 18 months ago.
It's such a blessing that Bonginkosi can get here, works once a week and lives in with a friend he has worked for the past 8 years, they also treat him like a son. Cynthia found work closer to home making travelling much easier.
So glad to hear you're settling in and good to hear that Cynthia is also sorted.
Oh! Lizelle, this place looks so amazing! I am craving a vacation already 😂 so greeny and peaceful. It looks like you're already settling in well and enjoying it there 🤗💚
Your photos are amazing 🤩 I mean topnotch 👌
Thank you @ginika, I appreciate your kind words. It's truly a peaceful haven here, finally feels like I am in retirement ☺️
You're welcome 🤗 Moreover, You've earned it! Enjoy every moment of your peaceful haven 🙂
I notice that you have been integrating into your new life and that this town has everything you need to make you feel good. In all changes, takeoff is important and you are already beginning to take off. Beautiful and comprehensive that recreational complex. It makes me happy to know that you feel well. A hug friend. 🥰❤️
Thank you so very much dear @mamani, I so appreciate your constant encouragement the last few years. It finally feels like I can live again, and being in such nice surroundings is such a bonus!
