Stepping into a New World...

Selling and buying property concurrently for sure is not for the faint-hearted!
We met the first deadline in the nick of time, but the next and final one will require nerves of steel!

Dealing with the estate administrator, two different estate agents for the sale and the purchase of the new property, and two difderent conveyancing firms, has required a level head. Something I lack at times, so I had to get a filing system going or else I was going to get myself into a knot! I've never signed so many papers; my head was spinning!
I had to arrange for compliance certificates. All comes at a cost! I was a tad concerned about the electricity distribution board. Thankfully, there wasn't much to do and I got my certificate! The entimology report was issued with a thumbs-up. The pest control technician said how impressed he was with the state of the roof rafters, and went on to say that it's because construction materials and craftsmanship were of a high standard back when our house was built, just over fifty years ago!
You must wonder why I'm sharing quilts with you.
These are the works of a very dear, and very lonely little lady at a retirement village we went to see. Definitely not for me, everyone looked close to 100! This lady took us into her home to see the size and her little garden at the back. Beautiful and spacious inside, but a tiny strip of garden, hardly anywhere to move.
This wonderfully fascinating lady was a quilter who turned part of her garage into a sewing space. She cannot do this artwork anymore because of failing eyesight!
The detail in her work is amazing, and she gave me the go-ahead to take photos of her stunning, intricate work!
On the home front, it's emptying at quite a pace, with furniture and other household goods finding new homes. My staff have been amazing, and have been wrapping, marking boxes, and packing everything except the essentials, which will be done right towards the end.
We're in the middle with these, and will have to repack and seal. I sorted my books, but still have too many, so I'll tackle those tomorrow if nothing comes in the way! More books will go into boxes that will stay behind. The new owners' daughter loves reading and asked that we keep it
I'll give you a little glimpse into the new world I will soon find myself in, if all goes to plan!
The clubhouse is beautiful; so much to see and do, and there are walkways everywhere.
I will tell you more about that once the fat lady has sung!

I'd better not visit the coffee shop too often, or else I will become that fat lady!
My Monday started with this gorgeous sight of the waning moon, and the rising sun turning the sky into glorious colours, as I opened my front door, just before sunrise.
My cellphone camera doesn't do it any justice, but to me it was a promise of a beautiful new chapter in my life!

I enjoyed your update about your preparations.
I also love those quilts. Such a shame that she is no longer able to create them.
That lady's work is stunning, every tiny detail is fabric and stitching. She must have been well-known in quilting circles. Unfortunately I couldn't see myself living there!
I'm looking forward to moving, but very sad that I have to leave my cat behind😥 He's become so attached to me, follows me everywhere, it's almost like he senses something is happening!
Have a lovely Tuesday Jacey🤗
feet up soon, I hope, the next great adventure with cake temptation !!!
Looks like I'll be kept busy with more pleasurable/leisurely activities. There's always something on! And there's always cake😉
A couple who are close friends with my brother live in the same block. How is that for coincidence?
Yes they seem to want to keep you active, work off all the calories!
Coincidence or fate, life is a mystery
It sure is! There was also a connection between the friend's Mom and our Mom!
The plot thickens !! I can see this turning into an Agatha Christie whodunnit LOL
It's a small world indeed! My brother's friend has been living next door, well almost, for a couple of years and they both didn't even know it!
I will let you know if any new information comes up😂
I await your info Miss Marple
Haha, happy Friday @grindle!
Cheers and you have a great weekend
Ah, Lizelle, it's a lot to deal with, I know. Sterkte!
I'm sure you'll be happy and settled in no time and you'll look back on this and sigh!
You'll have stories to tell, though!
Dankie Fiona!
I keep thinking how the two of us had no inkling what 2023 had in store for us and how life would change!
My brother is here for his 4-week stint and looks like he's going to fast-track the move! Thankfully, I can still stay on in the house even after the transfer so I can take my time getting the new house in order. Knowing my 'baby' brother, he'll take care of that <3
Ag, ja, Lizelle, what a klap! I am glad your bother's going to be here. I know you don't underestimate what's involved, and it's smart to accept all the help you can!
I enjoyed your update and also looking forward to seeing the greater you.
Also your image is the sunrise is great, I don't think I'll be able to get such image on my phone.
Well done
Thank you @vickiee 😊
You're welcome
Wow, that's one fancy place that you are moving to milady. Always a hassle with the certificates that one has to get in order to comply with the laws. This and that, and almost never ending. Glad that you have that sorted, and we hope that the excitement of your new adventure doesn't leave you much teary eyed when you evacuate from the old nest.
All blessings to you.

The tears spring up every so often, but the new adventure beckons. It will be so nice to be close to my brother and his wife, plus their extended family, who are like family to me as well! It's very fancy. The clubhouse looks like a 5-star hotel! I'll have to wear my pearls (but they're fake)😅
Thank you for the good wishes Zac & Marian ♥️
Time milady, as you are still tender, and although the memories will last forever in your heart, time will slowly make things better. I know as I have been there, and I still often think about my family, but we just have to bear and continue with life, day by day.
Your brother sounds like a great guy, and we are so glad that his family, and the extended family accepted you as their own. Maybe if you put a bright orange lipstick on, people will not inspect your "pearls" too closely. 😊
Maybe I should start to call you the 5-star lady. 😜

Beautiful encounter, your new home, very spacious and a lot of light. You will adapt, you have a lot to do and accommodate to your liking and that will help you pass fast. Look for the place that will make you happy and do it yours. The terrace and the garden will be your favorite site and the kitchen, because at that time your delicious desserts and tasty coffee cannot be missing. The friends who will not miss and your children. Everything will be perfect. Wonderful days await you that you have dreamed and will become a reality. It is what I want to you, friend. Go ahead, a strong hug. 🤗🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you, my dear friend! The photos are of the clubhouse; it's beautiful. My apartment is small, 2 bedrooms, but that is more than enough for me.
I'm really looking forward to moving and exploring this lovely place.
I appreciate your very kind words @mamani <3
Move is exhausting on body and mind, wrapping up memories, glimpse of future home with family close to you, some comfort. Looks stunning BTW!
Thoughts are with you during this time, a foot in the past and future.
That is so very true! Mixed feelings at times, but mostly thankful I can stop worrying about things that go wrong. Just this morning, I had to buy a new light fitting for the BnB bathroom. The existing light had a fancy circular globe that nobody stocked, not even Zebbies, who manufactured it!
I'm also thankful I will still have a connection here with the staff - hoping that works out - and giving a hand with the BnB.
I still cannot believe we managed to get an apartment there; they sell like hotcakes. We lost out on another 2-bedroom freestanding house, but I'm happy with the one I got.
The foot sometimes wants to step back, but things are in motion now, no going back!
It's all the upkeep in an older home, nothing lasts, currently outdated before we realize it.
Being able to connect with staff and assist the new owners always a pleasure, my Dad went for tea with the family who bought our home we grew up in, gave them lots of advice knowing land conditions, where to add a swimming pool etc.
Being in a lock up and go situation will give you a lot more freedom to do what you wish at any given time. We all live in the past to some degree, nervous of what lies ahead. Chin up and keep smiling.
Thank you Joan, yep I will keep focused on having less worries and more time plus just lock up and go.
I will do as your Dad did, they want me to keep in touch.
I'm just thankful my staff will continue and will be given a bigger role. They both have had good interaction with the regular guests and Bonginkosi knows what maintenance tasks need to be done regularly. So it's a new challenge for them.
Wonderful selling as going business with new owners keeping staff, puts ones mind a ease knowing the struggle people have in finding good employment. Adjusting to a new area should not take too long as you know the place.
Yes it's a huge relief, because they're both hard workers, nice natured, very loyal and always go the extra mile. Yes not easy to find work!
I still have Vusi once a week as he is struggling to find work to carry him through, things are tight out there!
It's so awful that good people who want to work struggle to find employment! Cold enough today, I made a nice pot of soup, had it for lunch and again for supper😉 Keep warm Joan!
I cannot even imagine how it is to deal with that much paperwork. I could do packing, if need be, but red-tape is where I draw the line. Good luck with the next steps!
I detest red-tape, it's such a waste of resources! I don't think many people read bulky documents like that. I did not, yet I signed, like most of us do!
Thank you for the good wishes @ladyrebecca!
Oh! You’re handling a lot right now. You stayed organized with a filing system, that’s pure genius when dealing with so many people and papers. Your new place sounds amazing with the clubhouse and all those walkways, such a great setting for a fresh start.
It really is stunning, so much to explore! Think I'll be doing many Wednesday Walks once I'm there :) Looking forward to that @gretelarmfeg! Thank you for reading.
Wow! That's great! I’m excited for you.🤗 You're welcome!😍

Those quilts are so beautiful but mostly I enjoyed reading your update and looking forward to more of this... the place looks so fancy <3
The real estate transactions can be so stressful. It seems like everyone has their hand out asking for fees for this and for that! Although the process has been streamlined quite a bit since I bought my first home in 1998, it's something I never get used to.
Those quilts are gorgeous. Some of them remind me of the neighborhood we stayed in during our last trip to Amsterdam in 2019!
The glimpses of your new home look nice! I can't wait to see more! I hope you're taking care of yourself and resting enough during this transition.

I just cannot believe there's so much paperwork! Sign, sign, signature, sign...and so it went on! A lot of it was for the body corporate of the estate. At least we've done the first round, I believe there's more to come, not too long now.
I'm so glad I started minimizing a while back, has made packing so much easier.
Really looking forward to moving now, and I'll still come back here from time to time to give them a hand.
Thank you Eric, I'm getting the odd anxiety but I suppose it's natural, so much happening at the same time. I haven't been feeling well but I think it's cabin fever, need to get out:)
They've streamlined a lot of the paperwork here in the US. It's a lot less overwhelming than it used to be but there are still so many fees and taxes that have to be paid!
I'm glad to hear you're looking forward to it! That's a good frame of mind to be in when we're going through big changes like this. Getting out into the world and nature will be just the thing you need, I'd bet! I hope you enjoy the weekend, Lizelle!
Thank you so much Eric. I'm still waiting to see about the fees and taxes!
It's been a cold weekend, but it's been good. I hope you're having a good Sunday!
You're welcome, Lizelle! I hope it's not too bad! We had bad storms last night and are supposed to get hit with something called a derecho tonight. I'd never heard that term before in my life.

Gosh, I've never heard that term either, sounds scary! I do hope you'll be ok, especially now you're in a free-standing house. Not much one can do except make sure everything is put away and all windows and doors are closed up tightly! Take care Eric🙏
