Multi-functional Keychains - A Peek Inside

(Edited)

Keychains, as insignificant as they may seem, can offer clues about the life of the person collecting them; not only where they come from but also places they've been to, and the things they enjoy doing.
We're all familiar with the phrase - if only the fly on the wall could speak! Well, the same goes for these keychains, they would be able to tell many stories!
I have a varied collection, this elephant is one of my favourites - strong, but not too heavy nor bulky, and currently safe-keeps one set of our Airbnb cottage keys.

No guessing which door key is attached to this keychain, the most important room for anyone running a BnB!

This battered keychain doubles up as a tape measure and is super handy when out shopping especially for decor items; one of my favourite pastimes!

My colourful beaded and wire keychains immediately tell you which continent I come from! A heart, a sunflower, and significant letters of the alphabet.

A whistle and a beaded alphabet keychain make good companions - doubles up as a sports whistle and also as a safety whistle. Mom Lily's keys used to be attached to the whistle when she lived on her own in the cottage many years ago and had to climb up and down stairs from the main house to hers.

A gift from my cousin who emigrated to New Zealand many moons ago symbolizes the silver fern.

I bought many keychains in the Netherlands last year but gave them all away, and only kept this one of Vermeer's priceless painting - Girl with the Pearl Earring, bought at Mauritzhuis where the original painting is on display under strict security.

I'll close my blog with these beaded keychains that have been turned into wall decor. I removed the keyrings and attached them to a row of bricks to soften the cold stark look of the splitface tinted concrete-block wall of our Airbnb cottage.

I have many sets of keys, so even though keychains may seem like insignificant objects, they play a vital role in making my everyday life easier.

P.S. This has been my response to the monthly challenge by the lovely @mipiano inviting other Hivers to share their collection of keychains.

Do you have any multi-functional keychains or any that carry special memories?

Dear @lizelle

I loved 😍 your collection of keychains, liked so much the elephant that it became my favourite immediately, but when I saw the beaded keychains and loved them even more 😇
The tape measure is super useful and the whistle too 👏 Thank you so much for your contribution to this monthly theme 💐

You are absolutely right, the keychains speak and say a lot about a person, their tastes, their adventures, stories, if they could talk they would say a lot about oneself hehe 😊

Those last keychains you put on the wall are beautiful 😍

funnily enough, all my keychains come from the same person. mean all of them 😱 that's so weird and I never really thought about it. I'm terrible with keys though. So many keys and I have no idea what most of them are for. 😂
