Smiley sunflowers followed me home

20230811_124935.jpg
The whole of July in UK, or at least where I am, has been pretty much a typical UK summer - miserable and rainy. I hosted a house warming party for my family the other weekend and all 23 of us ended up stuck indoors instead of out in the garden. You cannot imagine how much time I spent cleaning the house next day!!!

Come August, things are brightening up. The sun is out, and the sunflowers are blooming. We have a farm park nearby and this week they have just opened up their sunflower patch. They claim they have 200,000 sunflowers, that's a lot!!! I highly doubt this claim, I reckon they added a nought to the end by mistake, and even 20,000 seems like an over count.

Entry to the sunflower farm is free, and you can cut your own sunflower for £2 each. That's a very good deal as the sunflower farm is great for taking photos. Personally I thought it would be very reasonable if they charged £1 entry per person, I'd happily pay that.

I came here on the second day it opened, and surprisingly there wasn't many people, I thought with the summer holidays, it would be busier. That was great for me though, no one to photo bomb my pictures.

This is the first time I've seen so many sunflowers, and now I understand why sunflower emojis are always so happy. The bright yellow petals automatically brings a smile to one's face. And because they are so tall, you have to look up towards the sky to see them, how can one not be happy when you see so many smiley faces under the clear blue sky.

Some of the sunflowers were even bigger than my head, and I had a lot of fun going round to find the largest one to take a selfie with!!
20230811_130630.jpg

Of course I had to take a few flowers back home with me. Happy sunflowers makes a happy home.

Wow! thanks for sharing this content with us, have not seen such a late farm of flowers like that before. I guess the farmer really did great work and by allowing people to see how beautiful it's makes Ii t more lovely. I can't imagine visiting such a place without taking one home.

Nearly all the vistiors took at least one home with them, it's such a small price to pay for the visit, and realistically it does cost the farmer to plant and manage it, so it's only fair

The house warming had to be done, because I have a big family, it's just very annoying we couldn't sit outside because of the bad weather. Cleaning is always the worse...

Sights like these are exactly one of the reasons I want to live my country. I can only the kind of photos I would create in a field like this. Really amazing Sunflowers. We only have the tiny ones in Nigeria

The photos look very beautiful, there are so many sunflowers there. I couldn't stop thinking if this field would make a HPUD guessing post XD

I plan to go back again to see if more flowers have bloomed, maybe I will use that for my next HPUD contest. Thanks for the inspiration!!!

Beautiful Sunflower fields, I go on vacation this week and hope to see some as well. They are the variety that farmers plant for those sunflower seeds. Just hope they aren't harvested yet.

Wow 23 guests, I imagine you were busy preparing beforehand, during keeping them entertained, and of course afterwards.

BTW I missed your selfie with the big one 👀 haha. Have a great week ahead :)

The guys here said the patch will probably open for 4 weeks, I plan to go again hopefully there will be more flowers blooming. Hope you get to see a lot on your vacation as well, and look forward to you sharing them on Pinmapple!

Hope you get to see a lot on your vacation as well

Hoping to see but if not there is a lot of other things. They are much different than yours and I don't know if there are fields your allowed to walk through here. Now I will web search and see :) Take care.

Nice selfie @livinguktaiwan! 😉

I really enjoyed reading your post about these amazing flowers (btw, the state flower where I was born), as they are a favorite around this part of the world as well. For similar reasons as those you cite ...

Hard to beat the benefits of simply getting outside (especially after your description of being cooped up inside ...) and enjoying the natural beauty of a place like this one!

I had to google that, Kansas!!! It's bang in the middle of the States, could you get more center than that 🤔 Then I had to google what Kansas is famous for. What a lovely and happy place to be.

Thanks for dropping by @roleerob.

"It's bang in the middle of the States, could you get more center than that ..."

Yep, the so-called "geocenter of the 48 contiguous states" of America, I have been there. I actually have a picture of me (somewhere in one of these boxes ... 🙄😏) by this memorial ...

Near Lebanon, Kansas - population 178 ... 😉

Hehehe oh my…

Summer, what is that. 😋 Haven’t seen it here yet. Today on a drive I found the first tree changing colour… it was half yellow already 😳 think we are skipping summer and are heading towards autumn.
Enjoy the summer ☀️

Lovely farm. We used to have a sunflower plant. Just one but it was very prolific, having as much as 5 to 6 blooms at one time although the first one usually was the largest. And yes, they are tall plants, remembering they were taller than my 5'9" daughter. Just one plant but was the centerpiece of the garden for a while. A d now a whole farm of it!! What a joy. So great of you to have found these and share here. Thanks was indeed a sunny and bright post 🌞🌞🌞

Wow, so one grew into many more? I did hear they're pretty easy to grow, maybe that's why there are so many sunflower patches. It must be lovely to have them in your back yard to view all the time.

We only had one plant but would have been very easy to have more because each bloom had so many seeds. The problem was there wasn't much space to grow them. Here are some pics of that one plant.

In the last pic you can see the center of the flower which is color green. Those are actually the seeds which you can plant when the flower dies. No wonder sunflower seeds are sold everywhere as a snack like peanuts.

I don't think any other flower speaks of happiness like a sunflower does. They are gorgeous, and really the perfect backdrop for a photoshoot! A bargain for sure!
Sunflowers were my Mom's favourite, and for the last couple of years of her life, she would get a special sunflower arrangement for her birthday from my nephew. Lovely photos @livinguktaiwan!
