My friend gave me three young butternut squash plants last week, I hope it's not too late in the season for them to grow. Everything else seems to be growing a bit slow this year, I reckon they will harvest when I'm away in a few weeks time 😔

I'm sorry for getting back to you with such delay...
If it's still going to be warm it is not too late as they will keep growing until first frost.
Indeed, everything is slower because it's way too hot and plants don't like it.
Where are you going?
