They're so beautiful and that's such an interesting recipe. The Chinese normally make moon cake for the mid autumn festival with lotus seed paste filling and dried egg yolk inside. There's also a version with nuts inside like yours but they're not as popular as the lotus seed paste version.

Hehe you know better than I do 😁 It's same in Japan to eat them more in the mid autumn. But it's always available even not on the full moon day in Japan since we like moon cake a lot.

I wish I could find lotus seed paste but it seems not much easy in my area. I may try to find it when I visit Berlin next time. Although I thought it's nice to make it with ingredients available in the region.
