Chit Chat Friday - Colours from my garden
I love waking around in my garden even though I don't have a lot growing yet. It's a bit of an unorganized mish mash because I want to try grow so many things. Most of the plants are no where near to harvest yet, but some have started to flower and create a beautiful array of colours.
My marigolds are slowly starting to flower. These were the first seeds I sowed this year. It's been a long journey, over two months and they've finally flowered. It's so satisfying to see a tiny seed turn into an actual flower.
The bumblebees loves the hotlips salvia, they're always buzzing around here. I tried to get a photo of them but it's so difficult.
Considering how delicious strawberries are, their flowers are quite plain Jane and uninteresting. A typical example of an ugly duckling turning into a beautiful swan
The spring onion flowers on the others hand are very beautiful once I zoom into them. I hadn't noticed that before. I wonder what will happen next? Will they open up into flowers or burst open to something else? So many surprises to be seen in nature.
My sister propagated me this hydrangea plant. Did you know the hygrangea flowers can change colours based on the soil acidity? Another amazing feature of nature. Who knows what this pink princess may transform to in future
Veggies also flower but it normally means they're at the end of their life. My bak choi has flowered quite early on this year, skipping most of it's adult year where I should have been harvesting them instead
Tomato on the other hand, flower in the the early stages to produce fruit. There seems to some debate about whether tomatoes are vegetables or fruit... maybe the flowers will settle the argument now.
The pansies have had quite a short season this year. The flowers are starting to drop already and some of the petals are broken. I don't know if there will be more flowers to come, I hope so as they're very beautiful.
And finally the queen of my garden, my lavender. I have a big plant in my front garden next to the salvia hotlips. It has really flourished this year and has taken up so much space. I'm sure she would have pushed the salvia hotlips off the raised bed if they weren't planted deeply in.
I also have 8 more lavender plants in my front garden. They're smaller here because I haven't watered them much, and there's a lot of traffic passing by. That said, they're still growing nicely and attracting some bumblebees.
It took me a long time to get this one decent image of the bumblebee on the lavender.
What colours, if any, do you have in your garden? And which is your favourite flower from above?
I'm writing this as a Chit Chat Friday series of post with the objective of driving up engagement and communication on Hive. The content will evolve around daily life things making it easy for everyone to take part to engage with one another. Hopefully it will interest you to make genuine engagement instead of two word spams like "Nice photos" "Very beautiful" or calling bots. I will be muting those comments.
You did it! The bumblebee... you're very clever, always leaving the honeys for last.
I think your garden has very exotic plants that I love to look at. Hahaha... flowers are magical.
Learning from everyone here!! I took over 10 shots and this was the best one. It's so difficult to take photos of the bumblebees, they keep on moving around before I can focus.
I don't know how the people in Indonesia do it. They must be genius photographers, they all take these professional grade photo of insects 🤨
Flowers are magical in deed, even when they're not supposed to flower
Hahaha...
Buenos días. ¿Has bebido tu café en el jardín hoy? 😃
Yes!!! I guessed your comment correctly
Creo qué mi espanol esta mejorando in Poco 😁
Nice shots ❤️
Nature truly never ceases to amaze, whether with its colours, shapes, the scent of flowers, or even the aroma of tomato plants, which I love. You have a beautiful, well-tended garden. It's difficult to take photos of a bumblebee in flight or perched on a beautiful flower, and there are ugly duckling flowers that can turn into princesses. Nature always surprises because it is wonderful.
I love the close-ups you've taken and the bright colours that can be seen. The lavender is the icing on the cake of this beautiful post. Thank you very much!

As an inexperienced gardener, I find nature has so many surprises in store for me. Everyday is like a new day as I see the changes in each plant, either growing and blossoming or unfortunately being eaten by bugs and insects.
But it's always a great experience, and that's what matters most!
Absolutely, it's part of nature, some grow, some die,
😘
The pansies will keep flowering if you snip off the flowers that have faded. I agree it's a glorious time of year in the garden. The main colour is from my geraniums, the lavender is just coming into bloom and I'm waiting on the lilies.
I've been harvesting salad leaves and yesterday I noticed that I seem to have some free courgette plants growing. I'm not sure where the seeds came from but I'm going to move them to a better spot with more space. I've had loads of strawberries this year, there seems to be a bowlful ripe and ready to eat every evening.
Thanks for the pansy tip that's great news!! I didn't know be that, I thought they only bloom once, gonna snip them off now, they're so pretty to bloom just once.
I got some salad leaves growing, they should be ready for harvesting next week, and I have some watercress that are coming along nicely as well. Those I have to snip off the flower as soon as I see them.
I haven't grown up too many flowers, mainly produce I can eat, trying to get more practical with my efforts. Hope it pays off
It's called deadheading and you can try it with many plants, roses in particular respond well. It's very satisfying if you've had a frustrating day to go out snipping in the garden!
Your garden is coming along, this is only the second year, I think? It takes a while to get established. My garden is the opposite ... a constant battle to keep things in order 😂
I've heard of deadheading, just don't know which plants and when, some is immediately after flowering, some before frost, some after frost, some in spring. It's like going back to school again!!
Sniping to relieve stress is definitely one big advantage of the garden, it so satisfying. I'm looking for strawberry runners to snip now, and pinching tomato suckers, feel like a hawk every day!
Yes, it's the second year here now. Just need to sort out my lawn. We've got the builders to returfed twice but it's impossible for the grass to grow because they dumped so much crap when they built the house. Going to try sort it out once and for all next month. If that works I'll be a happy bunny next year
😁
Yes, that's often a challenge! Hope you get it sorted out.
I thought you were the queen of your garden!! 😁 The lavender flowers are the princesses that surround you and call the bumblebees to pose ;P
I'm the goddess that have no power and can't get my garden to do what I want 😆
Lavender for sure is my favourite, yours looks so healthy and has beautiful big flowers!
I like a garden that is not too 'orderly', yours looks pretty with all the colours.
I don't understand why a tomato is supposed to be a fruit. I have a tree tomato that us like fruit but that's very different, especially the taste.
Have a wonderful weekend @livinguktaiwan ❤️
I'm surprised how easy it was to grow lavender, it's pretty much zero maintenance. Next month I'm going to move the lavender in my raised bed into the ground when I sort out my turf, hopefully it will flourish even better after that.
My tomatoes are still quite small this year, same for my sister's and she knows what she's doing in the garden. Maybe they're late bloomers this year. This year I'm grow a different variety, can't wait to see what I harvest, if anything at all
I can almost smell the lavender around here, reading your makes me wanna wonder around and find different flowers to take photo of. I like how your garden grows such delicate and beautiful plants just by looking at those calms the heart.
That's why people say the garden is very relaxing and soothing.
Each one is magnificent!
The first one is simply sublime!
We're lucky that lavender grows quite easily in here. I hear it's difficult to grow in Latin America
Yes, here at least in Cuba, I don't know if it can be grown.
Have a beautiful day!
Saving the best for the last, the lavender is so fascinating and truly takes a lot of space. The bumblebee though😊 loveet! I was also intrigued by the tomato flower. That fruit or veggie debate about it is funny cos I've called it vegetable for years and taught it to many kids though I love to eat it same as I do apples 😁
I think maybe because we can cook the tomato, so we're used to calling it a vegetable
Right! This is it😊
The garden is looking amazing. You're obviously reaping the rewards for all the hard work and prep you put in last year. The lavender is beautiful and the shot with the bee is perfect! Azaleas also change colour depending on the pH levels of the soil.
I hope you continue to enjoy the fruits of your labour...especially the tomatoes :-)
Wow, everything is in full bloom, the lavender is literally exploding. Looks very chic, may they bring you much more joy and shine in all their colours.
