Rokinon 14mm F2.8 Full Frame Ultra Wide Angle Lens
Hi All,
Over 6 months ago I have bought the Canon R8 for my Real Estate photography side hustle and I have been using my old trusty wide angle Tokina 11 - 16mm lens (crop sensor lens) with a Canon Mount Adaptor (EF-EOS R) attached to the lens. My photos went to a NEW level. My photos are shaper then using my Canon 80D but it was still cropping my photos.

This is the widest I can go, I am missing most of the ceiling and the light fixture

I struggled to take a decent photo of the washroom

This room was big enough for me to capture the whole room

The washroom was big enough for me to capture the whole room but using a crop sensor is making this washroom smaller then the actual size.
So I was on the market to buy a decently priced wide-angle lens for my Canon R8. I soon realised that lenses in the R range are ridiculously expensive until my brother introduced me to the Rokinon brand.
Rokinon primarily produces manual lenses. It is a brand name under Samyang Optics, a South Korean company known for manufacturing affordable camera lenses. We read the reviews for the Rokinon 14mm F2.8 Full Frame Ultra Wide Angl and we were impressed. For $459.28 AUD, what can go wrong?
So I purchased the Rokinon 14mm F2.8 Full Frame Ultra Wide Angle for the Canon R mount from Amazon. I was really impressed with the build quality; I was blown away, and it only cost me $459.28 AUD.
Recently, I had a real estate job, and I took my new bad boy with me to the shoot. I can tell you my photos are on a WHOLE NEW level. Capturing way more of the room—top, bottom, and sides—and damn, this lens is so sharp.

In this location, the room had REALLY high ceiling, I can garentee that if I was using the Tokina 11-16mm lens on my Canan R8 I would have missed the light fixture and 1/4 of the stair case as this room was small reltive to the top 2 pictures.

This washroom was acutually very very small, using this new lens was wide enough to capture the whole washroom.
In conclusion, the combination of Canon R8 + Tokina 11-16mm is good enough if the location is big to photograph but in tight and small rooms, Canon R8 + Rokinon 14mm F2.8 Full Frame Ultra Wide Angle is the way to go to capture the whole room.
I can't wait to go landscape photography to see how those bad boys preform in the wild.
Stay tunned for my next post!
