Principalmente porque el lugar encierra mucha historia y porque se encuentra algo escondido, por lo que cada rincón en Barcelona se convierte en un posible encuentro de historia, paseo, felicidad. Aquí me iba cuando salía del trabajo, luego de un mal día, digamos que a meditar, a pensar, a estar sola. Al menos en la pandemia esto estuvo bastante solitario, ya luego volvió a llenarse de turistas, que igual jamás fue una molestia, sino más bien, una incomodidad para tomar fotos o descansar.

Tourists usually come with a guide, so on many occasions I heard stories about the neighborhoods and buildings that I did not know. I didn't have time to be a tourist, I got a job as soon as I arrived, so these small personal breaks, in tourist sites, allowed me to listen to the talk and the history, sitting nearby and without the obligation of having to follow a tour.

Los turistas suelen venir con un guía, por lo que en muchas oportunidades escuché historias de los barrios y edificios que desconocía. This square is called San Felip Neri, located in the Gotic neighborhood, and as I said before, it is somewhat hidden. It is named after the church that is located there, and I have heard that this space used to be a cemetery, over it they raised the square. The iconic, the crazy, the transcendental that brings me to have few photos and to show the best possible in detail, is that it was bombed during the Spanish civil war, suffered this attack in January 1938 by the rebel side, with the sole intention of causing fear and terror. The explosion it caused damaged the buildings that were there and so it has been preserved.

Esta plaza se llama San Felip Neri, ubicada en el barrio Gotic, y como dije antes, está algo escondida. Lleva este nombre por la iglesia que se encuentra allí, y he escuchado que este espacio solía ser un cementerio, sobre él levantaron la plaza. Lo icónico, lo loco, lo trascendental que me trae a tener pocas fotos y a mostrar lo mejor posible en detalle, es que fue bombardeada durante la guerra civil española, sufrió este ataque en enero del año 1938 por el bando sublevado, con la única intención de causar miedo y terror. La explosíon que causó dañó los edificios que allí estaban y así la han conservado.

Lo puntualmente triste es que en esa época, se refugiaban aquí niños, y claro, personas de la iglesia. De esta manera, esta bomba causó la muerte de 42 personas, en su mayoría niños. Y esta muerte fue algo atroz, ya que no murieron a causa de los golpes, sino de la explosión de fuego que se dio hacia el interior de la iglesia.

Me asombra saber también que esta parte del barrio era conocida por ser zona de caldereros y zapateros, y allí se encuentra hoy el museo correspondiente al tema. Barcelona es un sitio repleto de museos! No puedes aburrirte nunca, y hay para todo tipo de intereses.

Además, es muy sencillo incluirse en tema e historia, pues los guías, las personas, difunden este tipo de cuestiones. Yo no conocía esta plaza hasta que un compañero de trabajo me preguntó “a ti que te encanta conocer sitios, ¿has ido a la plaza Sant Felip Neri?” no tardé nada en preguntarle dónde quedaba, escuchar lo que él sabía de la historia e ir. Al final todo está muy cerca, pero si no sabes el camino o su historia, no todo es atractivo, ¿verdad?

I hope this tour was to your liking, sometimes I would love to be in a place like this where all its history dazzles me. In Buenos Aires it also happens to me, but not being close to the capital, much of the history in the province is not so informed and access to data or historical places is not of such an impact.

En Buenos Aires también me pasa, pero al no estar cerca de la capital, mucha de la historia en la provincia no es tan informada y acceder a los datos o lugares históricos no es de tal repercusión.
