I always believed that it was not a requirement to be an expert to have an eye for art and photography. The art that is born within us is so unique that there is no right or wrong way. The end result should be as it was meant to be in our mind, not as it would look "pretty". And with this introduction I bring you today my beginnings in photography, when I used to investigate a lot in details and textures, especially with plants since it was something totally within my reach and in my fears and insecurities, I reinforced learning with everyday things.

Siempre creí que no era requisito ser experto para tener ojo en el arte y la fotografía. El arte que nace dentro de nosotros es tan único que no existe una manera correcta o una incorrecta. El resultado final debe quedar como estaba planteado en nuestra mente, no como quedaría “bonito”. Y con esta introducción les traigo hoy mis comienzos en la fotografía, cuando indagaba mucho en detalles y texturas, especialmente con las plantas ya que era algo totalmente a mi alcance y en los miedos e inseguridades, reforzaba aprendiendo con cosas cotidianas.

Like any skill, learning photography is a lot of practice and training one's eye to know what to set up and how to achieve the desired effect, either during the shooting or in the subsequent editing. Once again I find myself enjoying a rather solitary activity, as not all company is good when it comes to taking pictures, and I enjoy taking my time, analyzing each shot and redoing it if necessary. It is a job that, based on this effort, I always manage to improve a little bit. And of course, I end up satisfied, which is no small thing.

Como toda destreza, aprender fotografía es mucha práctica y entrenar el propio ojo para saber qué configurar y cómo para lograr el efecto deseado, ya sea durante la toma de fotos, o en la posterior edición. Otra vez me encuentro disfrutando de una actividad bastante solitaria, ya que no toda la compañía es buena a la hora de tomar fotos, y yo disfruto de darme mi tiempo, analizar cada toma y rehacerla si es necesario. Es un trabajo que en base a este esfuerzo logro mejorar siempre un poquito. Y claro, terminar conforme, que no es cosa menor.

I was learning and improving slowly, I already understood a lot of techniques and names, but little practice and when I bought my Nikon a few years ago, I started with that part, the practice, the one of improving and testing everything I knew theoretically.

Otro ejemplo de lo solitario de mi actividad es quedarme a esperar que llueva, literalmente buscando goteras para intentar capturar agua en movimiento, cosas que simplemente se escapan al ojo humano, y que poder congelar en una fotografía me dan el indicio de estar tachando cosas que aprender de una lista. Fui aprendiendo y mejorando lentamente, entendía ya mucho de técnicas y nombres, pero poco de práctica y cuando compré mi Nikon hace ya unos cuantos años, empecé con esa parte, la práctica, la de ir mejorando y poniendo a prueba todo lo que sabía teóricamente.
