Wednesday Walk ~ around Grimsthorpe Castle Park & Gardens, Bourne UK ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง

Hi all ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป

With this post Iโ€™m joining in at the Wednesday Walk challenge and Make me Smile challenge. That are hosted by @tattoodjay and @elizacheng every week on Wednesday.

โ€ผ๏ธHave a look: Here in the Wednesday Walk Community if you want to join in! or at @tattoodjay โ€™s Post here: โ€œWednesday Walk Teddys Beach Tiverton Rhode Islandโ€œ
It tells you also the rules of joining in, at the end of his post ๐Ÿ˜

Todayโ€™s selection will be of 27 photographs, where I take you along on a visit to the Grimsthorpe Castle Park & Gardens in Bourne UK ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง
We visited it 5 April 2018 during a holiday to visit hubbies family in the UK

The Photographs in this post are taken with my old iPhone 5s, which is replaced since a few years now.

I will follow the time stamps on my photographs. So it looks like you are walking along with me ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป and see the surroundings through my eyes. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Let me show you first its location on Google maps, see the yellow star โญ๏ธ :

Zooming in a bit:

It is surrounded by so much nature. A lovely location for sure.

The castleโ€™s website you find Here!

Some information that aboveโ€™s website States:
โ€In 1516 Grimsthorpe and its lands were presented by Henry VIII as a wedding gift to William, 11th Lord Willoughby de Eresby and his Spanish bride, Maria de Salinas, lady-in-waiting and confidante of Henryโ€™s Queen, Katherine of Aragon. Through many different titles bestowed upon their descendants over the last five hundred years โ€“ the Duchess of Suffolk, the Earls and Marquesses of Lindsey, the Dukes of Ancaster and Kesteven, the Barons Gwydir and Aveland and the Earls of Ancaster โ€“ the ownership of Grimsthorpe has remained in successive generations of the same family united under one ancient title, the Barony of Willoughby de Eresby.

This long and continuous occupation by the Willoughbys is reflected in the remarkable collection of art and furnishings to be found in the house today: an eloquent record of the characters and fortunes of a powerful and influential dynasty over half a millennium.
The Willoughby de Eresby family is one of three in England who still fulfill the hereditary office of Lord Great Chamberlain, the Monarchโ€™s representative at the Palace of Westminster. Due to this role, Grimsthorpe houses one of the largest collections of royal thrones and furnishings outside the Royal Palaces.โ€

โ€Gardens: We are certain that thereโ€™s been a garden at Grimsthorpe since the early 1500s and maybe even before that.

They have evolved over the years and there are still subtle changes taking place. The gardens never appear crowded and there are plenty of quiet corners where you can relax. There are also huge expanses of lawn where younger visitors can let off steam and have fun.โ€œ

Letโ€™s hold you not further in suspense and start our walk around the grounds:

We walk on the side of the castle towards the garden and have these lovely views.

Some different anglesโ€ฆ

Looking back we see the Castle.

The castle seen from the lawn.

It looks so ancient and majestic, donโ€™t you think? ๐Ÿ˜Š

We are discovering the gardens closer by and can see different views, the manicured bushes make it rather interesting as there are lots of shapes in them. Even animalsโ€ฆ

As you can see here. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

This statue can be found too, I thought it was best in black and white to give it a more vintage look ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Walking towards the edge of the gardens we see the large park that goes all around the castle grounds for miles on end ๐Ÿ˜Š

Along this path we find benches with beautiful winged creatures ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Another view over the fieldsโ€ฆ towards the large pond/lake.

Beautiful viewsโ€ฆ it was a fresh and crisp day back than in April.

Walking further we discover more statues, this lion ๐Ÿฆ can be found closer towards the castle.

We walked here to the other side of the castle to have a look. We see a large lawn and a fountain in the middle.

Closer look:

Made it a bit lighter for you to see more details. Look at the statues on the pillars.

Another angleโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ˜Š

We walk now further and are surrounded by wildflowers and treesโ€ฆ ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒผ

Blue bells over the ground. ๐Ÿฅฐ as you know we should share #alwaysaflower ๐Ÿ˜Š

Views around usโ€ฆ isnโ€™t this lovely ๐Ÿฅฐ

Small flowers in the most beautiful shades of purple ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

It wasnโ€™t busy when we went as you can see in my photos we were almost aloneโ€ฆ

I noticed a butterfly and point it out for you, do you see it? Yesโ€ฆ I knowโ€ฆ I didnโ€™t show you up close ๐Ÿ˜‡

It would have flown away to quickly getting closer by.

Such a beautiful sightโ€ฆ early #spring #flowers everywhere ๐Ÿ˜Š

We walk now back to the castle to end this visit and our walk today, letโ€™s go ๐Ÿ˜Š

And thatโ€™s all for todayโ€™s post my friends, join me next time for more #adventures, #stories and #photographs ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿป Even some #artworks once in a while will come by ๐ŸŽจ
Thank you so much for looking, and reading. And if you liked my post, an upvote or re-blog is always welcome ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

It is on my bucket list to visit a castle one day before I die. We don't really have castles here in South Africa so I will have to travel quite far to do this. Thank you for taking me with you on your walk!

Isn't that just so elegant? I almost want to let out a sigh. I love bluebonnets and daffodils and all the lovely spring flowers. Spring has to be my favorite time of year, but, I say that about them all.

The winged benches, the sweeping lawns... everything about it was amazing.

Can we go inside now? :)

The trips to the UK are to visit hubbies family and friends. I have been 5 times. He is British.
But to be honestโ€ฆ only the last trip we took some time in between to explore a bit on our own. As visiting family we hop around 3 or 4 times. So it is definitely different than a holiday.
Itโ€™s a beautiful place to explore for sure @edprivat I will do so more in the years to come.

Thank you. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Ž
Happy Saturday!

I enjoyed going through the exterior of Grimsthorpe Castle Park. I suppose the insides were off limits?
What grandeur it must have been when it was in use... or is it still in use?
The trees and flowers outside are jut perfect!

I think it is still in use and the family lives there.
