📦🚛 Our move out of Spain has started 🇪🇸 ~ “Market Friday”

With this post in our lovely #community this Friday for the #MarketFriday by @dswigle - Denise I will show you the moving trucks and some of the movers that picked up this morning our belongings 📦📦📦🚛🚛 for our country move… 🗺

These 5 photographs are all taken with my #iPhone 🤓 this morning 16 December 2022 📱

Some of you already know what I was doing this morning…
Yep, I got up very early in the morning as the moving company would arrive at 8am ⏰🚛🚛

First 1 little truck came… this was a 17m3 truck and I knew this wouldn’t be enough as we had booked transport for 20m3 household items.
So half an hour later the second small truck showed up…

Our belongings added up to 95 boxes 📦 and 70 loose items 🪑🛏🖼🛋🧺🪜📺

Inside… we had filled up the living room of our rental for easy access for picking up, over the last 2 weeks. 😎
This looked like this:

As you can see… it was a bit full hahaha 🤣

When the first truck was filling up, 2 of the 4 movers started wrapping our sofa 🛋

After wrapping the #sofa… it would be placed with a few other loose items (only about 4) in the second small truck 🚛🛋📦

I won’t tell you a destination yet where we are moving too… 😇 as to be honest… I know the country, but we have no location yet. 🫣 (if you know the country… don’t tell the rest yet hehehe)
Our belongings will go first into #storage. For up to a month, this was part of the DEAL I got with the moving company. 😎

So we are still in the process of searching a rental. As we have done so for several weeks.

You must think 🤔 where are you going now to then?

Ok ok… I tell you, we will be cleaning this rental house today and tomorrow. Then the landlord comes tomorrow afternoon to check the house and collect the keys.
We will drive in our rental car… (as we sold our car already 2 days ago) to Málaga city… where we stay 2 nights in a Hotel 🏨 😊
A bit of relaxing is in order… 🤩 and checking the Christmas 🎄 lights on Calle Larios.

Monday we fly 🛫✈️✈️✈️✈️🛬 with the plane out of Spain 🇪🇸
Yep… only then I will be officially leaving the country ~ SPAIN.

We go and visit first some friends and family for the Christmas holidays 🎄🎄🎄🎄🎅🏻🤶🏻 After that… we go further ✈️✈️✈️ or wait a little bit longer… until after New Year.
This all depends on, me finding a new rental 🏡

So I will keep you all a little bit longer in suspense. 😇😎

But what I can tell you… we will buy a car on the other side… (wherever that may be 😉) and have a road trip up north for 3 or 4 days, that I will be sharing with you soon.
And of course the adventures we will have along the road 😉🤩🚗🚗 sooooo excited already just thinking about it.


My old little classic mini 🚗😎 (I don’t own her anymore since a year now… 🥲)

So please bear with me… when I’m not that active lately and in the coming weeks.
Don’t worry, I still show up everyday, as how can I not 🐝🐝🐝. Just a little less active…

Cross your fingers for me that I find a rental soon 🏡🤞🏻

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaw, I see now, a looooooot to do. wowowowowowowow. So many stuff. Full respect. I never moved with soooooooooo many things, only with 1 bag and a case always :) I am exiting looking forward to your new casa. No clue were it will be, not europe you said once. So America or Asia...hahaha...If its Thailand I maybe knew some helping hands for you to find a location to stay. Have a beautiful new adventure my dea friend. Yes, lots to do… packing and wrapping items. The only few things I haven’t wrapped was the sofa, bbq and 2 toolboxes… everything else I did the last few weeks. Minus the boxes I have not unpacked since o moved to here in September 😉🤓📦

Lucky you… moving with just a few items. We don’t have too much, but most of our rentals were unfurnished. So we do gather things. I did sell half of the furniture now though… so not much left. 😉😎

Nope… 😉🤓
We would have moved to America… with a relocation from work. That was the plan for the last year. But due to company take over… this changed and didn’t go ahead. We only heard this in October. So we needed to change our plans 180 degrees 😎 and this went quickly now the last weeks.

Lol, this is more of an adventure than moving and since you are putting me in suspense I will guess the country you are moving to.
First I think it is in Europe it could most like be Ireland 🤣

Think I told you in the past… and mentioned a few reasons why it would not be a good idea for you to move here. 😉
But we have many many reasons.

Just to name a few:
Time for new adventures, been here long enough after 16 (hubby) and 7 years for me, the climate is changing so much, weather is extreme in the summer and winter now. (Here in the south) no heating in the houses for winter, too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter… it is turning into a desert slowly, more challenges for hubby now the UK left Europe (he is a cross border worker and British I am not), paperwork more complicated lately, missing of 4 seasons, pure nature, and blending in and being accepted, the locals tend to treat you always like a tourist… even if they see you every week in a shop (especially along the costas) very hard to find long term rentals etc etc etc

We surely will miss Spain, but we can visit it if we want. 👋🏻😊
So many other places in the world to visit and live. This move soon… will be to my 6th country of residence… so all new and exciting. 😎

Not in the entire Spain. For example Marbella has a pleasant weather all year. At least it would be pleasant for me.

Not all of Spain, but there you go… bad research on your end. I live next to Marbella… it surely doesn’t have good weather all year. The houses here have NO insulation and heating. Especially when you rent.
The summers are getting so warm it truly is exhausting. 5 months…no body goes out. And the winters are so cold… it goes into your bones. Even if you cuddle an electric heater. It’s so cold inside. Outside is warmer. The houses are not built for the change in climate.
Also everywhere along the cost… most rentals are only 10 month in off season, meaning owners wants to move in in the summer and you need to go. Off season you have empty houses around you, as owners won’t live in them in the winter. Because of the bad seasons.
In my street of 60 houses. Only 4 are lived in now.
It is not as romantic as you think. And with us lived in many different parts of Spain for 16 and 7 years… I can tell you more, if you want to know @xplosive
I would look much higher up… in Spain. Definitely not along the southern coast if you are considering Spain 😉🤓

Also for that reason… northern Spain comes to mind. Deserts will go up though.

This is interesting, because there are literally complete articles in my language (in Hungarian) that the weather in Marbella is good all year, and mainly this is what attracts people from other countries. Of course "good" is a subjective thing. Something can be good for me, while it is not good for you, and vice-versa.

I am interested. I read a few articles about Spain in the previous few years, but maybe they are no longer true, or they were not true at all.

You know, I moved to southern Spain for health reasons, as the climate would be so good. And I saw such huge changes in the last 4 years… what is completely different from how it used to be. And believe me I’m not the only one that sees them. Even the locals start to complain and move away. The expats are leaving just after 2 years of being here…
I am part of an international group. Internations.org where I met many expats living here. As we had monthly gatherings, weekly meetings and things to do. And all are saying the same. From all walks of life.
If you can’t buy a house, change it completely or built from scratch to cope with the climate… it will not be comfortable.

And maybe you do remember me telling you, I am used to things. I lived anti squat… in buildings with nothing even higher up in Europe. No electric, water etc… So I know cold. 🤓 Just don’t want you to make decisions you will regret. As it all looks sunny and warm. It is not anymore. It isn’t easy to get paperwork to live here either.
I have full residency to make that clear, when I came here. I had to start again 2 years ago when we came back from one year work in Malta. The process is completely different now.
There is no support for people that just come and want to live here. You need a minimum of 700 euros a month to apply for residency in Spain as an European.

I think the articles are before this time. As the climate and mood of people along the south has drastically changed. The locals won’t accept foreigners, even if you speak Spanish.
7 years ago I would have told you, yep come… I think now… with family, friends you are better off in a known place. You know the rules there. Have some income. Not sure if you can keep it when you would move.

I have not planned to officially move, so I did not planned to get a residency. I know that many foreigners live in Spain like this. Not in mainland Spain, but on the Canary Islands (mainly in Tenerife) (people living in caves), which, as I currently know, still has a pleasant climate all year.

No worries, I thought that already.
The Canaries… they are so much further away. And the temperatures are almost the same all year. The houses I don’t know about living in them. Only visited… a few times.
And the caves there can’t tell you about either. You will have to check out. Just hard to get there for you with the hawk I think.
Do remember, you can’t use the healthcare system when you don’t become a resident. Do ask if you can be a certain time out of your country without officially changing your country to keep your disability payment. As there can be checks… and they can cancel payment. Just some well meant advice 😊

To say the least… hahaha 🤣 very exciting. We will see… as long as I find a rental before mid January we will be fine. Don’t want to be a “burden” to long to hop around friends. At least our belongings will be stored up to a month. So no worries there. 🍀🤞🏻

You did a great job packing! I cannot believe it has arrived already, Jackie! @littlebee4 Seems like we were just talking about you coming here... and now you are off on another adventure!

I want to say that I admire the job on your packing. For someone who has never moved, it looks easy. It isn't hard, but, it is tricky to pack only what you won't need for the next month. Well, you are relaxing today and off you go tomorrow! I look forward to seeing you in your new place. I hope the rental comes through soon for you, but, however it goes, you will be ready for it!

Thank you, that is kind of you… as you are right, a lot of organising goes into this move. It can be tricky. Especially as I needed to separate out at least 1 months of belongings that we need and travel with on the plane.

Yeah, kinda dead here for sure... I think people are not even thinking Bout HIVE until the 4th...

That's actually the big thing I am looking forward to... The change in environment, and freedom from the various mental assaults of living here. Yeah people say what they want, but as You know.. Dealing with nasty people (who make believe they aren't) all day every day does have it's effects on You!
