“Market Friday” ~ 🍁The VERMONT Country Store in Weston, my US adventures 😎 🇺🇸

For my next post in our lovely #community this Friday for the #MarketFriday by @dswigle - Denise.
I will show you some highlights of my visit to a VERMONT country store in the USA 🇺🇸

These 17 photographs are all taken with my new CANON R5 with 24-105mm lens 🥰😎🤓 on 28 September 2022.
I will follow the time stamps on them. So you can walk with me a little while 💃🏻💃🏻 and see the store and surroundings through my eyes…
It was extra special as the leaves started turning for it’s fall colours 🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂

Let’s start with our arrival on the parking lot and what we saw. 😉


Next to us we see a little garden with a path that leads through flowers and plants to a trail that you can follow into the forest 🌳

Of course I had to capture the last flowering #flowers here… #alwaysaflower for @dswigle 🥰

Looking around us in the parking lot, we see red leaves 🍁 everywhere… 🥰

Such a beauty, don’t you think?

We walk towards the back entrance of the Vermont Country Store and see there is a little white tent put up for shelter. As it has been raining. You can buy some grilled food on the left and eat it under the tent sitting on the benches.

Looking to the left we see a bit further away this hide out, were you can sit and see an old photo of the store many moons ago. 😁

We also see this amazing classic truck and many pumpkins 🎃 stalled out for the autumn festivities and seasonal changes 🍁🎃

But… let’s hold you no longer in suspense.
Let’s step inside this rather large store.

They have so much… from accessories to toys to food to clothes to office supplies to…. A lot hehehe 🤭


Also some old tools are on display, there are not being sold though.

I see nice cheeses in the fridge and these colourful packages caught my eye.

Looking further in the store and up, we see the construction beams. How wonderful that is.

Also old metal signs can be found as accessories in the store, not for sale. 🤓 I love old metal signs 🥰

The cutest corner in this store is around the fireplace.

Don’t you think this is so inviting to sit down and read a book 📖 or play a game 🥰😎

Walking outside, I capture the front of the store and a motorcycle passes by… 😎 vroooommm

Opposite this country store we see a Christmas shop… all year round Christmas decorations are being sold. 🤶🏻🎅🏻🎄

The sky is turning… dark clouds are forming. Let’s head back to the car.

I pick up a leaf 🍁 just before we travel further.

Yes, a new season is here…

Wow we are like soulmates this week. Both posting Vermont country stores. Mine lower case, yours The Vermont Country Store 😁 Country general stores are still a tradition in lots of small towns in Vermont. The one you visited is one the best 👍 in fact it drives a pretty big internet business haha You were about 2 hours from where I live. The brave little state as President Calvin Coolidge famously labeled Vermont is bigger than you think. You were in the Connecticut River valley which is the eastern border of the state. I live in the Champlain Valley which is the western border of the state.

We are like soulmates this week @steven-patrick 😁👋🏻 Soooo cool.
I heard about the country stores and thought we just needed to visit a few when we are in Vermont.
I think this was the highest we drove up into Vermont. We did visit Manchester too (for a sculpture park) on the left side where we drove up to, via New York State coming from Massachusetts. We did do a lot in 2 weeks. We sure will be visiting Vermont again. As we loved what we saw.

It was sooo biggg, the store. Never saw anything like it.
The amount of other state license plates we saw in the parking lot was just amazing. I think we counted about 9 different states that day. 🤓 so it does attract a lot of people from out of town.

That wasn’t far indeed from you away. Next time we come by and say hi and have a coffee. 😊
It looks small but Vermont does have a lot.
Especially the nature. We just love it. I think we spent the most time in nature, walking trails and visiting small hill villages. 😁

You counted 9 license plates in the parking lot.

You are forgetting that Vermont leaves are peaking in color. People are probably visiting them, not the Country Stores. :) Ok... they like the stores, but, they love the leaves. There are a lot of country stores up there! I do love them1

Believe it or not, there were hardly tourists those 2 weeks we were out and about. Empty trails, mountaintops restaurants and villages. So to see so many different licence plates at those stores was cool.
I understand they are probably there for the peaking and just on a stop on there journey. Maybe we were a tad to early.

Vermont definitely turned before Massachusetts. We saw the most red up there, but it only started… 😉😎

It’s a great store to be in a few hours. So much to see. And eat delicious food too.
We chose wisely when we went and the temperature was so refreshing, a relief from the heat in Spain. Loved the crisp cool air. And seeing the leaves turn was just magical… the higher up we came more reds showed up. 🍁🍁🍁

I had my "Meditations Day", as Always - but something funny did happen... I have (finally) made it "clear" I am not going anywheres on Saturday, and my roommates son will "not" drive her to get cigarettes....

This weekend is the Jazz Fest here. I normally go every year but, this year my friends are "not" playing (first in 15+ years) and I don't know why - but it could influence my decision...

Well.. Actually I did have a "Amazing" Meditations Day! 🙌🏼😅🙌🏼
Another guy I followed, and mainly because he did the same things as Carlos Castaneda - but in a far more technical way is Robert Monroe. For some "reason" I got up and watched "out of the blue" a video from him on YouTube, which I had never done before... Search for him on YouTube I mean, only read his books... Anyways...
"I learned Something"! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
And he didn't say it.. But, I did not have the "tools" he suggested, so I decided to synthesize them - "It Worked"!
It was a sort of "brain wave" experiment with sound (hertz). I didn't go too far into this, I will do this over the next time - but I got a positive reaction! Pretty happy about that, and from in the middle of Meditating...

I so understand living in the beach you forget how much fun inland and up the mountains it can be. I lived about 4 times high up the mountains and inland in Spain. Different living for sure. I many ways.

Wow, a wonder she drove herself… she must have been desperate. Hehehe 🤭 I shouldn’t giggle.

So we changed our plans 3 times for yesterday where to go. First we wanted to drive up, inland to Jerez. But turned out it would be 32 degrees Celsius up there. So hell nooooo we were going that way, as here it would be only 25 degrees… much nicer although still hot. So than… we though let’s walk a trail. But it started raining (for 4 hours) and in the midday it would be hot 26 degrees Celsius again. So we scrapped that plan too. We ended up going to a butterfly garden where I could play around with the camera. Haven’t transferred the photos yet, but will do later and share soon. 😁😎🦋🐛

Maybe you should still go. Get out of the routine. It’s good. Even though your friends are not playing.

A Butterfly Garden is actually a Good Place to learn about a Camera - (should be) lots of color and activity! Maybe even some floating by shots! 🤓

Well I actually did not go, but I did go to a Park instead (*sublime Sunday post). Funny, I was thinking of the "Corpus Christi Botanical Garden" - but changed my mind and decided on the park instead. I figured first, the musicians I support are not playing this year (I may know why..), and second is the crowd thing, as this is a "Free Concert", annually - large crowd in a small space, so I figured the park is better for me..😉

Yes sound can do a lot! Although I am no where as precise as someone who is blind, I have kind of got the seeing with sound thing.. But... I figured out something else (may be related, on the nervous system level)...
Well Carlos Castaneda (first I heard of this, actually and "he" may also be Jose Silva - man credited to discovering this, as he had a few names also Miguel Ruiz..🤔) one day has don Juan talking at a certain speed in one ear. His friend don Genaro was talking something else a different speed and pitch in the other ear...
Now this is the same as Robert Monroe and his "Hemisynch" where they use headphones and sound. He in the video takes about how it is more the difference in what each ear perceived than what....
Well.. I decided to use my abilities as a Human and (mentally) synthesize this event in my head, oh yeah helps if you "stop talking to yourself as well" but... It Works! 🙌🏼😁🙌🏼
You can climb right out of here - literally!
Of course a dear emotion will pull you right back, and I haven't gone too far with this as the shock that it worked already had me thinking.. So I am in the experimental phase.. I will keep You posted...🤓

Exactly like that, not going where it is warmer now hahaha 🤣 the butterfly garden was fun. So many butterflies, caterpillars and some flowers. Not many though. Flowers I mean. Took 360 photos.

Ok, I see why you decided to go to the park. Large crowds in small spaces we do avoid still. Better be somewhere in nature.

Wow that’s so cool… I wish I could do something with sound. I have tinnitus since 4 years… an extremely high pitch in both ears what drives me bonkers at times. It is never quite anymore in my head. Never… not even when I rest or sleep. Sometimes it keeps me up.
I need a counter part sound to it… but will it stop the little hairs from trembling. Nope I guess not.
Sometimes it’s so loud I can’t follow conversations.

Hope you can experiment a bit and find what works best for you.

You know, I was outside and it hit me.. Besides the dead of tall things around me..🤔
I think it's the sound of the wind! Here you might hear it a little... There I know it "roars"! That, I think I am not used to, and is scary... Especially in Autumn! 🌬️🍂🍁🍂🌬️
Actually it was scary in Germany also.. Just the feel of things was so different it was not in the forefront so to speak..

Yes it was shocking! 🤨😲🤨 I will now see about the next trip... Since the 600lber is unemployed again, there should be no issues...😉🤓😏

I can imagine going out of the heat! We had a cold front blow through and right now (believe it or not) it's 15° Celsius! And will get a little cooler as the night goes on.. It's kind of a freak thing... Friday will be back to 33°...
But, 360 shots of the nature, I know they are beautiful, going by what I have already seen! 🤓📷📸📷🤓

Yeah, I was really not in a large noisy crowd mood.. OK, if I was going to see people I know, and can hang out a little - fine.. Go alone and walk around.. naa... I was not really feeling good with that.

Funny.. I have the ear ringing thing too.. 😏 And yeah, it never goes away... However I noticed (and this set me in this path) that sometimes they oscillate. And I can hear the cycling (difference from ear to ear - brain side to side?).
So then I discovered that you "can" influence the pitch - side to side, once you separate them. This is "Very Magical", indeed...,😉🤓😎
I am still experimenting, but all is very Positive so far!

Ok, understand. The wind is different. We lived for a bit in Tarifa. The wind there is relentless… capital of windsurfing hehehe so it just had to be windy lol. I can relate. Sometimes the wind around you can be just tooooo much.

Aawww thanks a lot, posted today my second post with the new camera photos… and a forest trail in Massachusetts. So have a look and enjoy, hope some memories will pop up.

Oh... Here it is "Plenty Windy"! 🌬️🏄🌬️
Lots of kite surfing here and a few schools..
But...
There is "no trees" for the wind to blow through... Like in other places the wind you hear us from it going through branches, might even hear a tree creaking from bending.. Not here. If you hear wind it is just that, air blowing around.. But no branches sounds or any of that...
To me (after being here) that stuff all sounds like it's from a Halloween movie! 😎😅😂

I will check later, or in the morning... Having intermittent "I -Net" issues on the island tonight, for some reason. It took an hour and forty -five minutes to upload my post..🤔 The Fatter one was complaining... And he says No Bills! 😅😆😅
The younger generation! They got it made!

Well You won't believe this, and maybe you do.. But they tried again! 😲 First I got "set-up". It was 8:00 early, so I thought I should wash the truck quick... Then I was told the fatter one was going to take a shower. The other one had a Doctor's appointment and they were going together...
After awhile I look and see she is getting ready, he's laying in the couch... So I hear, oh I will drive myself - he looks so comfortable there.... Then even came a "while I was out I forgot to get cigarettes"... I did not offer to drive at all and did not! 🤓 YAY for me! But they tried the whole "guilt shame" act...

Exactly the same here, gray and much cooler, tomorrow it is marching right back up there!
Might be the same as well where You are, we'll see!

Well I am sure, and also sure the shots are Awesome as well! 📷📸📷 It's nice when You are at a place (one area) where lots is going on. 📸🤓📸

Yeah the ear thing...
It is kinda new (6 years).. And can be annoying.. Mostly because of the oscillation, more than the noise itself.. I think that was the clue.. But yeah, most of the time (it's doing it anyways) I can separate them - ear to ear I mean...
I would give it a try sometime, in a peaceful environment!

And yes, another similarity! I wonder at this point if some things are not "par for the course", "That" would be very interesting! 🤓

Aawww I can imagine… lived a year in Malta. It’s like that. No trees or any nature left and the wind is just wind, no sounds further. Strange thing.

No sun out but brighter than yesterday. They do predict some rain… we will see. Temperature is around 24 degrees Celsius at the moment.

Not sure if I can… it’s so loud all the time. A very high pitch / ringing I don’t hear a difference in each ear.
Will do one day when I’m relaxed and not thinking to much.

Yeah it's a funny thing, that no one would think about.. The Wind is totally different blowing through "nothing" or blowing through branches and things. It's a dead nothing..😕

I figured, I am not sick (don't feel sick in any way...), So let me wash the Exploder (been putting it off for awhile) real quick...
Vomit city again! I have up and went in my room and laid down till a few hours ago...
Odd.. You were say that You we're experiencing something like this a day ago.... Odd, came from "nowhere", and not sick (well.. really dizzy)..

Yes I do miss the European Daily Drizzle! Also other parts like "car tires" on wet pavement, basically sounds of activity, life itself - and the drizzle in the air kind of echoes the sounds, also "stone buildings"...

24° Celsius is "Perfect"! That's what I want! Maybe 20-24 nights and 24-26 days, Year round!
Of course there is the "other side "...
I have learned warm weather attracts flys... He he he!

Yes - no matter what, any Nature experience is so valuable! It is one of My biggest things just to get in it! And taking Photos is just plain Cool! 👋🏼📷👋🏼

Gotcha there! 👂🏻 Like right now I am not doing anything (mentally) to Dampen the sound or anything - "call it normal cruise control" and it is a bit loud! So I get it!
When you have some time, it still may be worth a try!😉😁😎
And "Yes" I am 100% sure it is a reaction to the energy because it actually does "oscillate" and change pitch. If it was a static thing, I think it would stay "flat", one time All the time - for me this is not the case.

Actually I like sounds myself, that's the thing I guess..🤔 Other than TV Violence (they are BIG on that and turn it up LOUD), and a few birds here is nothing.. No trees blowing, houses creaking, car horns blowing, nothing - oh occasional dogs barking - one here. Noises if civilization have become foreign to me. I am not against and they do make things interesting, just it will be weird at first. People will look at me funny!😂

Yeah, now to the "meat"... You know, this is really weird. I also was not "sick" in any way... But "DIZZY"! And throwing up all over! And I think that I know why... Maybe You do as well, or feel it... Well I am still having a "milder" case of being dizzy. Not like yesterday, but still there...
My thoughts are.. "There was a shift"... I can feel it and if I look at things, it all looks a tiny bit different, things are more "edgy and bright", so to speak... Maybe You are having the same...🤔🤓😎
In any event, it has also even had an effect on some mental things - clarity...

Yes we need exposure to Nature, every chance! The Camera is a Very good vehicle to get one there! And I mean even if someone is taking crappy photos, to get out and move - or to just experience Nature is honestly priceless!

That may be possible, I don't know. I do think it's like a carrier signal of sorts... Like the one that keeps the cell phones running whether your using it or not...

Wow, I do understand what you mean. It will be a whole new experience, something you have not had the last years after your move. It will be ok.
It is strange to imagine the sounds… or the lack of sounds around you. Here also… the only sounds I hear is a wining dog during day time next door when the owners are working… all day.
And the back street. There is a security booth… and a bump in the road where the cars need to slow down and than go bump bump over. Day… and the worse part… night time. Our bedroom is right next to it almost. But… hey… we won’t stay here long anyway. So we can live with it for a while.
No other noises either. As the palm trees… are far away and the few in the garden… hhhmmm don’t really make sounds so far. And we are 30 minute walk from the sea/beach so we don’t hear that either. And 80% of the houses around us are now empty… as the owners went back to the north. To their heated houses for the winter hahaha 🤣

As she went to the car rental agency with him to drive his car back... I think she "did" get it today - from someone else! And to put the "cherry on top" she was trying to explain things "away,".. (this guy has paid "0" towards mostly anything for a year and a half+) she says something about the $400, bla, bla... I told her walking away.. It's still $400 dollars...
So all Very Interesting... I like that someone else let them know they will not let him in their car, not even for $400!

The dizzy thing.. It's not gone.. Not as severe as Thursday but still there, especially if I move My head fast...🤔

My sister sent me a text about this energy all around she can feel...
And My roommate claimed to be sick on the same day as me, but I saw no evidence of it...

However, my personal thought is it is an Energy Shift of sorts - Global of course and pretty strong. I also think a whole lot of things are getting ready to change.
My eyesight is still "changed" and lights and things are all "much sharper".. Almost like I have been asleep the whole time....😕😐😲

Yep, I understand the sound thing…. I got some crickets now in the front… and they have been chirping all day. Hehehe it covered everything else.
The bump is a large speed bump. Like those you really need to slow down for, as after it is a pole that needs to open so you can get out of this area. So it’s annoying. The pole that opens and closes (forgot the English word lol) stops people from making it into a ramp. And a guard is always next to it…

Your "Speed Bump" sounds like one of the entry gates to a "Kasern" in Germany... I once lived relatively close to one - Yep can be very annoying during high traffic hours! 😐

A long time ago (they all forgot 😅🤣😅) she had asked me to photograph her nieces wedding.. Afterwards.. She sent me an email that they were crap and she had to hire another photographer and reduce her wedding - thanks to me! 😲
So "today" she volunteered me (???) to one of her friends to do the same for her daughter... I told her "NO"!
So I remind her "why" and I had told her to not even ask again...
She sends her niece a text.. She says it never happened and she is Very Happy with the photos I took!?!?!
Now honestly I know it did. Imagine that?!?

Yes it is still around.. It makes the whole world just that little bit more "Vibrant" - only description I can give it.. It may be the new normal...🤔😐🤓
My sister.... Funny huh? Now "she" is telling me (or trying to) that since she feels it (now) she is somehow special...
Little bit of the "fast - slow disco" if you ask me.. And in her case, because of how she is...
She doesn't have to feel anything at all... Just know it's around and use it as a talking point...😐

This is a Cicada breeding ground!
And yeah, they can be "loud" especially when 2 or 3 get together! 😲

Actually I think "variety wise" there may be more bugs in New England...Maybe even number wise... Up there it is "moist"... Here too but... I think most of them can't take the sand and summer heat.. now the ones that can grow HUGE! A Cicada here is almost as big as a hummingbird... Cockroaches as big as mice! But I do think if you stick a shovel in the ground up there and here, you will have more "life" there not here...

Even worse is when it is like midnight to 3/4 in the morning and they go over and the car headlights shine around in the house.. (I lived through that in Nellingen).

Thank You @littlebee4 ! I will! Actually the Storm they said yesterday got "sheared" apart on the Sierra Madres... But now "freakishly" two more are headed here from where the first one broke up. The news said it would hit around 2 in the morning..🤔🤷🏼‍♀️😕 Thank You and I will be careful! 👍🏼🙏🏼👍🏼

Never thought about that, but you are right. I think this little Urbanizacion has about 80 houses and I guess about 20 only occupied right now. I’m at the end stretch a dead end literally. One house in. Here I only see movement in 3.
I know there are neighbours on the side… as I smell they already put a fireplace on the last few days. It isn’t even that cold inside 23 degrees Celsius, so no idea why they light a fire but ok… other than that. I never see movement. Like little hermits. Hidden away. No light either, they close all shutters.

Really crazy he did that.

I can understand fully… been there got the t-shirt kind of thing. Other than the occasional contact via text with my 88 year old mum… I have no contact with family.

You picked the perfect time to visit Vermont!! The color palette is incredible at this time of the season! I know the exact store you went to!!!! It is insanely popular and you don't even have to go too far into Vermont to get there.

I am with you on the potbellied stove and sitting around it. My parents had a house in New Hampshire and it was a fun house for us to visit from Connecticut. It was close to Lake Winnipesaukee and it had an old switchboard for the town. The people that owned it ran the switchboard way back when and had a nice pot-bellied stove in the kitchen. When we went skiing up there in the winter, I loved taking my shoes off and warming my feet near them.

Oh, the memories.

There are many places there and close to where you will be that have General Stores that have been there for many, many years. And then many more than that. You have picked a nice part of the country where you can visit 4 or five states in one day, which you probably did. :) I am happy that you got there before winter and you will find that spring and the beginning of Autumn will be your favorite seasons. :)

Exactly, as we stayed in the centre of the Berkshires, this was a great road trip up for one day and still see some beautiful things. We went up through New York State towards Manchester than to that store and on the right side of Vermont border down again. Stopping at a few things. I share all later 🤓😎

Those are just the best stoves. The heat they disperse… and even when it off, it beams out still the heat for a long time.
That sounds just lovely and I could visualise it Denise 😁😊 I love fire places or old iron stoves… so great in the cold days.

That’s why we chose that location, to be able to experience a few States and get the feel of areas.
The time was perfect. Such a relief from hot 🥵 Spain. The air was fresh, crispy in the morning. It was lovely… I sooo needed that. In many ways. Believe me.

Yes, autumn is an amazingly beautiful time of the year when the foliage of trees acquires such bright multicolored shades! 😃 amazing store! It's very atmospheric inside. it would be interesting to wander there

The perfect season to visit weather wise too. Not to hot…. Nice fresh and crisp air. The leaves changing colours..l I so loved it.
