Letβs visit a park together today in the Netherlands and see all the details around usβ¦ π³π±
Hi all ππ»
Today I want to share with you all a selection of photographs I took when I wandered through a park, without other people present, what made it rather peaceful and perfect to share today.
This park is located around a castle in Roermond the Netherlands. βKasteeltje Hattemβ
The castle is used as hotel and restaurant for as long as I can think. We wonβt be visiting it today thoughβ¦ that I leave for another timeβ¦ letβs enjoy a stroll through the Park together ππ
All photos are taken with my (late) #Canon eos 550D with 18 - 135 mm lens in 9 August 2013.
Iβm following the time stamps to show you around this peaceful Park.
Come alongβ¦ and start our walk togetherβ¦ Iβm sure you love the green nature around us.
Walking past the moat around the castle⦠we see the entrance bridge to the castle.
Everywhere next to the path we walk on, we see beautiful flowersβ¦
Grasses⦠and bushes.
Of course I show you some details. As you know by now, I love details ππ₯°
There are large grass areas and in the middle we find very old trees.
A closer up of the old treeβ¦ π³π³π³
On the edge of the park we find the βROERβ a river going through Roermond, which is a city in the Province of Limburg.
We didnβt cross the river, this is just to show you. Now we walk back on the many pathways into the park.
We see this large butterfly plant. As we call it in the Netherlandsβ¦ π
Letβs have a look what little creatures we can find: we zoom in βΊοΈ
Of course the first one I notice is a little bee π
Next we find this cute butterfly π¦
Wonderful arenβt they?
Letβs walk furtherβ¦π
We walk past the pond that is also part of the moat around the castle.
We see loads of water lily plantsβ¦
Focussing on some details of the grasses along the pond.
Let me know if you want to sit down for a moment and enjoy the viewsβ¦ benches enough throughout the park π
Letβs watch the world go by for a momentβ¦ π₯°
Ok, yes, you want to walk furtherβ¦ ok ok, Iβm coming alongβ¦ wait for me, not to fast π
We see some cows on the other side of the park, letβs walk to them and say hi ππ»βοΈ
There is a large group⦠munching along on the grass.
As we are looking closer by this young one sees usβ¦ and looks curious in our way. Caught you πΈ
A large one walks by.
Others look upβ¦ but they continue quickly again with eating some delicious grass. π€
We are walking further through the furthest part of the park were fields are that go far beyond the boundariesβ¦
We see more details around us, fallen treesβ¦
The creatures that can hide and seek there. π€
Look there!
A grasshopper π
I zoom in for youβ¦
Itβs so cute, I like their little heads. Do you?
Have you watched closely at a grasshopper once?
And with this last cute Photo I want to sayβ¦ thatβs all for today, join me in my next posts for more #adventures, #stories and #photographsβ πππ» Even some #artworks once in a while will come by π¨

What a beautiful park so much to see from that grand old tree so big and sturdy beautiful flowers and plants and that gorgeous butterfly
The cows remind me of the many times I spent on an uncles farm when I was young
Thank you so much @tattoodjay
I lived a few times very close by, so could walk to it when I wanted, until I moved again. Hehehe π€
It isnβt that large, the park, but so much to see, it is always well maintained. Has a lot of history to and a large remembrance statueβ¦
The cows are just cute and so woolly, normally you only see the black and white ones in the Netherlands, but the last 14 or so years they changed.
Great to hear it reminded you of an uncles farm. π
Have a great day further ππ»βοΈ
Netherlands is such a beautiful country I visited there a few times over the years
It is beautiful and I lived⦠about 28 years of my life there. Ok, in lots of different places in the Netherlands.
I know it well, have been there since I was 6. So the largest part of my childhood.
Ohh I didnβt know that no wonder it had a special place in your memories
My passport is also Dutch ππ€
Yep and it will always hold that special place, wherever I move next too.
And mine is a NZ passport even though I havenβt lived there for over thirty years but I still call it home
Funny things right, from living abroad.

Roer is to "mix" in Afrikaans
Thank you so much @zakludick π it is a great place to wander through.
Not sure why there were no people back than. But love peaceful around me, so all fine.
Hahaha and it is in Dutchyland. We say βroerenβ for βto mixβ. And βik roerβ for βI mixβ or it is even used for the wheel on a ship. Our languages are so close π€π
Lol. "Ek roer" but we also use the word "meng" to mean "mix". While "roer" could be used to say "stir".
Another use is to say "Roer jou gat!" which is an impolite "Move your arse!" π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£
Yep, we have that word too, βmengenβ
Hahaha klopt! Funny things @zakludick π
It looks & sounds amazing with awesome photos as well @littlebee4.
Looking forward to seeing and hearing about the castle : )
Hahaha....I see @zakludick already gave the rundown on "roer" in Afrikaans here lol.
There is also the Koekeroer @littlebee4 π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£π€£
Hahaha....roer daai spoeg en diesel @zakludick .....met eish ja broer!

Those massive trees like that I call umbrella trees. Every yard needs one. And they're real handy at the beach too.
They are massive and not enough aroundβ¦ love big trees, and the shade they provide in the summer. π
I agree every yard should have at least one π³π³βΊοΈ
Good morning.
Welcome back to another day of whatever tf happens on whatever tf day this is. = }
Good morning @dandays ππ»βοΈπ
You said it allβ¦ hehehe π€ wait what day is itβ¦ lol
If not for all the got dang Wednesday walks and market Friday bla bla bla every day is Saturday but nNn0Oo0o every single weekβsame same same.
More truth. Give it to me straight all you blockchain personas. Lay it on me, I got thick skin and I can smell sugar coating from a continent away. Tell me how you hate the mailman and how your kid makes you wanna pull your hair out, you're behind on car insurance or how you burned yourself on the oven, plugged the toilet, stepped in dog shit get real with me.
Hello ello ELLO ello
Where'd everybody go? = }
I know⦠for us⦠everyday is actually the same, no difference.
They all run away @dandaysβ¦ most donβt want to βbe realβ letβs provide a pretty picture so all looks fun and happy. Sure that isnβt the case in many lives.
I was talking with some others about the following, but Iβm all over the place so hard to pick up onβ¦
We are fighting a landlord who doesnβt want to replace the aircon unit that is 20+ years old.
It died over a week agoβ¦ with summer in sunny southern Spain π₯΅π₯΅π₯΅ and a heat wave of 37+ degrees Celsius. So inside itβs just as warm as outside. I canβt even think straight at the moment, let alone be productive and workβ¦
Technician came last week. Told the landlord it needs to be replaced. Agency came back Thursdayβ¦ landlord wants second opinionβ¦ but we canβt get anybody before Tuesdayβ¦ π³ so yesterday technician 2 cameβ¦ o myβ¦ it needs to be replaced, but land lord doesnβt want too. So did some botch jobβ¦ got it running again, but second problem couldnβt be fixed. The fuses and cables in the electricity board are overheating and NOT BLOWING/ switching off. So electricity goes a few timesβ¦ without anything tripping.
Got the advice from the technician and agency⦠raise your potencia so the unit can run as it is too old, you just have to lay more.
Pardon me π³π³π³ send more power through cables that already are overheating and not tripping switchesβ¦ hahaha feel meβ¦ lol I had a cable fire/ melting fuses in my last apartment without heating or aircon. So I know it can happen. They said, it rarely happens hahaha
Crazy stuff, truly. Still waiting on an electrician before we get fire π₯
Speaking of fire⦠5 wildfires around us at the moment. One is 600 meters away.
But besides that, and waiting to hear updates, doing crazy paperwork, being treated as the tourist everywhereβ¦ π€¬π€¬π€¬ even if you speak Spanish they answer back in English nowadaysβ¦ getting ripped of in restaurants so watch out for thatβ¦ (putting things on the bill you did not have) all is good.
Iβm sure I forgot some things lol
Whole-e f-word shit! I so feel your pain.
Central and South America is eerily similar. Before you understand the currencies, you did get robbed. Even if only for 20 colones which is worth less than a penny, they got you. It ends up you have to check the receipt, check the change in a cab/market/anywhere which sucks cuz you're admitting you don't trust them. Then you catch them trying to steal from you and they fake smile like it was an accident.
I had to translate meters to miles and WOAH! That fire's close!
I'm impressed with your understanding of electrical terminology. You know I played with that stuff for 22 years right? Each thing you mentioned I understand the potential. Simple fix too. But when you don't have the tools or know where to get the parts or know who to call to shut off the main... I can only imagine. Man that would drive me crazy to understand the theory and nobody will help.
It sure isβ¦ I can tell you stories what happened the last few years in Spain and you will think Iβm living in a third world country, not the western world.
It is just like that here at the moment. They are in survival mode and donβt care for anyone none Spanish.
Yep, we point it outβ¦ for sure, but having to do that every time is just getting in my nerves. We donβt go out for food and drinks like we used too.
Also no fresh produce available at the moment. The supermarkets sell food that is off already. Moldy fruit and veggies in the stores. Meat that when you open the package rotten meat smells comes out so you donβt even open it further. We are not buying meat anymore as it was about 3 times a week that we found this.
I just got a message from the agency, somebody will turn up tomorrow. Guess what she also said:
βthe safest thing is that you have to hire more power from the company to avoid losing power. Just pay more.β
Reallyβ¦ π³π³ she has no idea what she is playing with.
Luckily I do understand enough for me to feel not safe until it is properly checked what is wrong.
I know that stupid air conditioner unit needs to be replaced too. But the electricity board is not working properly either. The fuses get so warm from the aircon unit truly hot. No othersβ¦
I did read you climbed up poles in your post. Now I know whyβ¦ didnβt know the electricity β‘οΈ bit. But I could have known.
Letβs see what happens tomorrow. I keep you updated π€π it is driving me nuts.
I studied engineering btw. So know a bit about buildings π
Update: he wonβt come as the electrician has Covid. And the agency said he is the only one they trustβ¦ π³ so we wait furtherβ¦ until he gets better.
They only have one technician?
Here I am. Good morning. I saved your responses for last. I kinda took the digital day off yesterday.
You're counting the days like we are. I can sense it in your text. If I'm understanding correctly, you've had enough and were ready to leave months ago. You're near Gibraltar, correct? I might be screwing that up. I haven't heard many good stories from that area.
The produce/meat issue, is that country wide or...?
The picture you've painted, I now have a better understanding why citizenship is so easy to acquire there and I'm uneasy about it. I'm not really enjoying what you're experiencing. The US, as fucked as it is, is becoming more appealing the more you enlighten me.
Yeah... Ok, purchase more energy so what's left of the circuits combust and burn the whole joint down. Yikes.
Morning @dandays ππ»π
She said it is the only one they trust!
Here everything is done badly, they donβt care about their work anymore. Finding good craftsmanship in todays climateβ¦ donβt even try. The agency isnβt even looking for another electrician as they donβt trust othersβ¦
Customer service doesnβt exist at all. Especially if they see or know you are not Spanish.
It is a messed up place at the moment.
Also the agency wanted to let the electrician come today with covid. He is still working π³
Sorry but that is just crazyβ¦ they donβt know if a person is vulnerable when he visits, I am as my immune system is weakened. So it would endanger me. I said he isnβt getting in here until he can show a negative test.
I avoided it so farβ¦ sure donβt want to get sick π€
Yep, there you are. π yes, it is needed to take of time from the on-line demanding world once in a while.
We are⦠as we started the conversations last October we would have hoped we would have moved just before the summer⦠nope we are still here. Counting the days. Almost put life on hold in some way.
We are 1 hour and 15 minutes drive away from Gibraltar. We sure didnβt want to live next to it. As I know that is a bad area. So not us.
So hubby is driving 3 to 4 times a week twice a day that distance. The rest is remote work.
Iβm not sure how far the produce/ meat thing is stretching but believe me we tried the last monthsβ¦ supermarkets from Malaga all the way to Gibraltar to find better food. This entire big stretch doesnβt have it. All moldy in the store. I will take this weekend some pictures when we go again, promised another person. I will show you.
You for sure wouldnβt want to be in our position. I soooo hope higher up in Spain it is different.
As here it is β¦. Not nice in soooo many ways.
The US. for sure doesnβt sound that bad at the moment even though we know what is going on there. The north east is sure better than what we are experiencing here in Spain.
I KNOW, what do they thinkβ¦ just raise it and nothing will happen. The switches donβt blow, the cable is already so hot with just a little amount of time that I put on the aircon. Other wise it is not doable in here.
Just plain ignoranceβ¦ they donβt care and are stalling to get a new unit. Cheap ownerβ¦ and an agency that thinks Iβm stupid and donβt care more.
I told her in my last message that they should stop treating us like that, that what she is doing is no solution in any way and that I know what Iβm talking about. She only replied with: OK.
REALLYβ¦ sigh crazy crazyβ¦
Funny you mention customer service. Just wait'll you experience customer service in Americaβworlds apart. 24/7 customer service, unlike anywhere we've experienced. Where I'm from they pick up the phone on the first ring, even on Sunday, they know competition is one call away. And they're polite, too, "customer is always right" is National motto whereas everywhere else we've been, they won't even call you back much less answer the phone. There's no such thing as customer service anywhere abroad which isn't everywhere, but a lot of places.
Restaurant service is no comparison either. You'll never have an empty glass in America compared to everywhere elseβlose sight of the server after they hand off your plate. Hence customary to tip, don't forget. We tip in the states not only because they earn it by repeatedly making rounds to make sure you're comfortable during your meal but also because snakey restaurant owners are only required to pay employees minimum wage so servers rely on tips to supplement their income. Therefor they're so on-point and hospitable during your visit.
I can't describe in words the difference between US customer service compared to everywhere else but trust me when I say, you'll feel like a queen.
I love it allβ¦
Canβt wait to experience it again.
We traveled both together and separately (before we met) on different occasions to the US. And so loved the service in restaurants.
I knew about the minimum wage, and I am happy to tip when I get back soooo much.
Here in Spain, you are sitting and waiting and waitingβ¦ you ask the bill once you got their attention after several attemptsβ¦ and you wait again, sometimes even half an hour if you donβt get up and walk inside in the meantime. They look at you, βyou want the bill, you want to pay and inconvenience my dayβ¦β it is just ridiculous. I know we have to adjust and be patient, but waiting hours for food, or a refill or the billβ¦ literally is justβ¦ π€¬ nope. Hehehe π€
We had sometimes even that they threw a plate on the table, not just once or in the same place.
Not even a smileβ¦
Even if the service in the US is sooo over the top and the smile fake (sometimes) it is 1000 times better than here. I trade it anytime.
You know after living so long in Spain, when we visited Paris, we got polite servers. Making sure all was good.
People on the street greeting us. Just to say good day, how are you and enjoy your day further. Without wanting anything else⦠seriously just that!
I remember sitting on a bench next to the canal. And a guy walked by. Smiled so beautiful and said that.
We were perplexed, we quickly greeted back, he was almost past us.
We were shocked about our reactions at first. That we didnβt trust it, we though he wanted somethingβ¦ we didnβt enjoy just the helloβ¦ it happened every day in Paris and it truly made us realise. That is so much better living. Why did we loose that. It is not us here in Spain.
Be genuinely polite to other people around you, care about them, smile. In Spain you wonβt find that.
Donβt get me started about paperwork and their mistakesβ¦
Simply fascinating... Some of these photos demonstrate a rare kind of sensitivity... There is a lot of artistic feeling in many of them, especially the ones of flowers and plants... I have been enraptured by the sobriety of the colours in each image and the delicate contrast... A lot of art here today my dear @littlebee4 friend!.... Thanks for sharing!
