Exploring the Castle ruins of CHÂTEAU DE LA PRUNE-AU-POT XV in CEAULMONT FRANCE 🇫🇷 ~ Adventures with Beth the Van ~ while moving countries 3500km south.

Let’s explore the Castle ruins of CHÂTEAU DE LA PRUNE-AU-POT XV in CEAULMONT FRANCE 🇫🇷 with me today. It is located in the department of Creuse in central France. The castle dates back to the beginning of the 13th century. We will first walk around the outside of the castle and after that we walk to the inner courtyard. It is fully overgrown but we can still admire the ruins. We find some yellow flowers on the fields edge. We can see the facade where once a drawbridge was and all the imposing towers and remaining details of this once beautiful castle.
Even though the weather wasn’t great we can enjoy this walk a lot. Are you joining me on this walk?
This stop is still part of my move south… to explore and stretch our legs as the journey of moving countries this time is rather long. We drove way over 3500km with a fully loaded van. I have not arrived at our new rental yet in our country of destination… I am pet and house sitting for 9 days on a large horse farm with loads of cute animals until Saturday. I will tell you soon all about the work and animals I am taking care of. I am taking many photographs, how can I not haha
So still busy busy with limited internet.
We hope to move into our new rental mid November so we will camp a bit longer in Beth after Saturday. The adventures continue since 10 October.
With this post I’m joining in at the Wednesday Walk #challenge. That is hosted by @tattoodjay every week on Wednesday.

Location of the Castle Ruins we find on the following screenshots of Google Maps :

Zooming out we see its location in France

More information about the castle you find here in French: Château de la Prune au Pot.
I did find a little bit information in English, mainly stating that it is abandoned and that you can’t visit the castle only see it from the road. When we went there. There were steps up and a trail made with barbed wire all the way around the castle bordering the surrounding fields. So you can walk around it and admire the ruins.
If you are ever in the area, do check it out.
Let’s start our walk now.
At the one spot parking next to the road we find a sign with more information on it.

There are steps going through vegetation up the hill.
We see another sign with the layout of the castle ruins. On the right you see the outer walls of the castle.

We walk the path between the barbed wire. Taking in the first views of this beautiful ruin. A once stunning fortified castle, now abandoned for a long while.

I take some close ups of the large tower.

Next to us we find even still some yellow wild flowers.

Of course I capture them. They stand out on this cloudy autumnal day.

We slowly walk further and make our way. Its overgrown vegetation makes it hard to see what is going on right at the bottom of the ruins.

We see more and more… the walls… door openings and windows.

The right side of this part.

I zoom in to see the beautiful arch way.
Let’s walk a bit further.

I see some dried thistles next to me.

Artistic photo of them with the ruins blurred in the background.

As the area we are standing in lends for some great close ups of the towers.

I zoom in more and more. So fascinating structures like this. To imagine how old they are. The castle was built in the 13th century.

We walked all the way to the furthest part now that the little path way allows us. So after we walk back…
We walk further to get closer to the inner court yard. The fences are broken at this spot. A shame as it looks like the owner is trying to keep unwanted people out and doesn’t want any further damage to their property in any way.
We will be respectful and leave everything as we found it of course.
Are you going further with me?
Ok great… here we go…
The way towards the inner court yard, ok… what once a courtyard was.

We see the right side of the inner part of the outer walls.

The middle part. I like the view of this tower from the inside. Beautiful isn’t it?

This is the area with door openings, windows and the beautiful arch.

We look further and see some details further along.

Looking up at the large tower. We are much closer by now. It towers high above us.

Behind us… we look up and see the corner and a wooden door.

Zooming out a bit for you to give you the entire view.

The middle of the ruins and the inner yard. Such a cool place.

We left the way we entered. Thanks to the owners for making a path for us to walk around the castle and take it all in. Can’t wait to explore many more castles. Are you joining me again soon?
…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends.

It's a wonderful place It looks like the castle show in art or book. Wonderful photography ❤️
Thank you so much for joining me today to explore this castle. It so looked like as it would come out of a book.

Such an amazing place with so much history. It's sad that it has fallen into ruins since it was abandoned by the Pot family, it must have been an impressive sight in it's glory days. What a lucky experience to have a break in the fence allowing you into the inner courtyard. I'm sure the fence will soon be mended! I'm sure the owner wants to protect and preserve what is left of the castle, and maintaining what is left can't be inexpensive.
I love all of your pictures, and can't wait to hear more about your time there. Limited internet can be a challenge!
It so was a cool place to wander around. Even now as it was in ruins. I could really imagine how it would have looked like many moons ago.
I was lucky the fence allowed us to get through. Sometimes one has to be lucky just a little bit.
I am sure too, that it will be fixed. Not everybody is as careful and considered as me… and tread lightly on grounds like this.
I did like it that there was a pathway created to allow people to walk around on the outside now. As it is a beautiful ruin.
Thank you kindly, will soon post more of my adventures.
It is always a challenge without internet, we even were so remote that we didn't have any g’s on the mobile phones either. Especially as we were sleeping in a tent along the way next to the van… on our journey south and not in accommodations.
Have a lovely evening/ day.

I'll always be game for exploring old castles 🙂 love the details still intact like the towers and the archways. Hard to believe how these ancient buildings endure. What of our times will still be around? will stand the test of time?
I bet there be a few ghosts haunting these old fortifications. I'd spend a night here IR camera and do a bit of Ghost Hunting with a local paranormal team.

Beautiful castle exploration Jackie, I can imagine the beauty of the castle in its early days when it was well maintained.
Sites like this that is close to a landlord can be a pain for them as not always will they be in the mood for people 😀
