Hi all 👋🏻

Today I want to share with you some StreetArt finds in Malta.🇲🇹 To break my posts of Paris up a bit 😉 This time we go to the ghost town, yes you read that right… a ghost town, of WHITE ROCKS in Pembroke Malta.

I visited this ghost town when I lived 1 year on the island of Malta in the month of October 2019.

Location: WHITE ROCKS ghost town in Pembroke Malta
Work Created in 2014 for the Sliema street art festival in Malta 🇲🇹

It’s a 3 story apartment building. So it is large…

It is rather a large complex that is abandon… 😎🤓
When I visited there were some families living in the open “to the elements” rooms. So I didn’t go to far into it.

The mural has a very powerful meaning behind it.

It States:
”On International Women’s Day, many people take the time to celebrate the women in their lives and those that have inspired them. But the day is also used to raise awareness regarding the battles and obstacles that have to overcome.

Local (Maltese) communications agency TBWA\ANG has teamed up with Victim Support Malta (VSM) to campaign against street harassment towards women in Malta, and they did so with an artistic flair.

Inspired by the Netflix series ‘She’s Gotta Have It’, TBWA/ANG commissioned local street artist C0ok3r to paint a mural over at White Rocks in Pembroke.

The mural reads “My name isn’t Lilly”, in reference to the classic (and notorious) Maltese cat call “Aw Lilly”.

For those of you who don’t know the reference that this graffiti is making, it’s actually following up on an international movement started by a Netflix series.”

“Cat calling is an international issue which disproportionately affects women” – VSM Director Krista Tabone said.
