CCC's Street Art Contest #129 ~ StreetArt finds in ABERDEEN, Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

avatar

Hi all 👋🏻

Today I want to share with you some StreetArt finds I found in ABERDEEN Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 while exploring this city. The weather was bad that day and the rain seemed never ending 🌧️🌧️☔️☔️ but I wanted to find some work of arts as I knew there would be a few cool #murals in this city. 😎
I found the main #mural / #art #work on a large #wall of a parking garage in the center of the city on 10 January 2023 during our road trip around Scotland.

The first #photo will be my #entry into the “CCC's Street Art Contest #129” hosted by @digi-me
Thank you @trincowski, @heroldius, @melinda010100, @ervin-lemark, @ecency, @tobetada and @arcange and many more for supporting this #contest!

The Photographs in this post I all took with my iPhone… 📱

Let’s have a look now at my StreetArt finds in Aberdeen city Scotland ~ UK 🇬🇧 :

Artist: SMUG ~ Sam Bates
Title: unknown, but it “depicts the main man from safehandsbarbers - GLASGOW plus his dog” and was created for the Nuart Aberdeen festival in 2019 - Source!
Location: ”WALL ON THE SIDE OF A PARKING GARAGE, The Green (street)” IN ABERDEEN #SCOTLAND
Work Created 2019

The Artist’s Instagram SMUGONE

DO HAVE A LOOK AT HIS WORK… IT’S AWESOME 🤩 he is one of my favourite artists. Ok… yes, one of many hahaha 🤣

Let me show you a bit more details from this amazing artwork:

Zooming in… 😎

What a great depiction of the dog, the fur… the look in its eyes. Very strong 😎 and powerful, but at the same time very tender and soft due to the embrace. 🤗

Bigger view again. Luckily the rain didn’t affect my photos to much.

Walking closer to it and looking up to show you how big it was.

Look at all the details… 🤓 such great work! Don’t you think?

If you saw the other small work of art in my first photo too, here is a better view of it to show you more:

The depicted artwork is a painting from Vincent Van Gogh, The starry night… most of us know it. This mural wasn’t signed by the artist who painted it here.
If you don’t know this work have a look here: In Wikipedia about The Starry Night.

In another alley I spotted this work:

Pretty cool. It wasn’t signed either so I have no further information for you.

On the way to the parking garage on the other side I saw:

Closer by…

This Cool work, I love the wavy long hair 😎 nice colours too.

Artist: INKIEGRAFFITI
Title: unknown
Location: ”Wapping street” IN ABERDEEN #SCOTLAND
Work Created unknown

The Artist’s instagram you find here: InkieGraffiti!

And that’s all for todays #StreetArt post. Until the next one! 👋🏻😎
Hope you enjoyed my #photos of this large StreetArt find and the smaller ones. #haveyoubeenhere
Thank you for looking and reading 😊 🙏🏻 Stay tuned for more… 😉

Thanks Joe, can you imagine this short post with a few photos… I started this morning at 9:30h and just posted it hahaha 🤣 it’s not funny. It takes ages to upload the photos. But… Starlink arrived in the country and I hope it will be delivered here soon. So I have better internet 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 (I hope) and can upload photos quicker and replies… and engage…

Thanks a lot. Have a wonderful day 👋🏻😊

Thanks a lot @betterthanhome 👋🏻😊 hope you will find in Lisbon also these kind of large artworks.
I knew there were many in Aberdeen, unfortunately I only had time for a quick wander and just a handful of finds, mostly small ones. I hope I visit this city again and that I can look for the other big ones… as I know they are there.
Good luck to you, and bring back many memories / photos of large ones 😁 and have fun 🤩

It is so unexpected to see a Van Gogh artwork on the street! 🤩 In rainy weather, it enlivens everything around with its bright blue. And that yellow container under the depicted artwork of Van Gogh's painting goes perfectly with the yellow color on this mural. 😀 Thank you for sharing this find, @littlebee4!

It was indeed, it just stood out so much in the dark rainy day. I loved finding it and I am happy I could share it with you 😊😁
The container even brightens it up more. Great contrast.

Wow, that first one is amazing, I wonder how much it cost to paint, whoever did it has serious skill. Even though it's technically advertising I wonder if there's a fee involved with keeping it up, like would they classify it as an advert for the barbers or would they classify it as art?

I like the last one too, it has a kind of Cyberpunk/ Sci-fi feel to it.

Thanks a lot @killerwot 👋🏻😎 for stopping by. How are you my friend? Hope all is well.
I haven’t had much internet lately after our country move. This week the solution will arrive so I can post again more and engage like normally.

The costs are paint, rent of the cherry picker and hours work. Normally… for a festival I am not sure what an artist earns.
The advert for the barbers is not that clear. As Glasgow is rather far and only people that know the artist, his work and the barber would know. I found out by researching.
This work will stay up for a while as it does attract visitors. Especially that know about the StreetArt festival.
I hope to paint such a large mural one day. My largest one was a 10 meter long wall…

This work was great to see finally in real life, I knew about it before I ever visited this city.
Hope I can explore Aberdeen one day again and find all the other large murals.

The last one was also cute. A nice style indeed.
Have a great evening and enjoy your week 👋🏻😎

Well you did get some great pics! :D

This still blows my mind. That artists are allowed to paint on public property in Europe.

Love it!

I painted a really bad version of Starry Night for the front of a DJ rig for a party way back. UV et al

Van Gogh would've turned in his grave as the blacklights were switched on. For sure.

Take care, angel. 💓

Thanks dear 🙏🏻😊

Yes, I love it and I hope many more artists will keep on painting on walls, including me hehehe 🤭

I only had one time that a group of the community in an apartment building didn’t agree. The owner of a penthouse had asked me to paint a tree of life on the outside wall in Spain. With animals, insects and birds… so when I finished later he contacted me, and said the community board didn’t agree with it. Even though it was his penthouse and terrace. Apparently the outside wall of his living room it was painted on wasn’t.
So while they were discussing it, I removed the sky. The owner hoped the tree could stay as it was hardly visible from the ground. But while nobody was in the penthouse, the community entered and painted it all over 😳😳😳 it was sad.

Oh that sounds cool, a starry night with black light features 😎 cool!
Yep, think Vincent would turn anyway in his grave… especially now he is so famous after his death.

Thanks, you too my friend 🤗🥰🌺

I did not know you are an artist! I would love to see some of your work...

Ah - so still some control even in Spain.

That's really cheeky of them 👀 And creepy! :(

I wonder if he would care or whether he would have a dance 😁

Have a great day, sister. See you always ❤️

That’s a shame you missed my art.
I did have a quick search and here are just a few, so you can see what I do for work.
Portrait drawing
Gouache painting black kite
Published landscape, airbrush and painted
Snails painting
Airbrushed wheelcover on car This one has some stories about me in the middle of the post…

I will try to share some more after setting up my studio again… other things are going first, but soon 🤞🏻😁

Yep, even in Spain some things are controlled and not always right.
I know… they just entered when the owner wasn’t there 😳
He did sell the penthouse shortly after…

Let’s think he comes to dance 🕺🏻 💃🏻

Thanks a lot sister… see you too 🤗🥰🌺

Back up.

Such good rest! Thank you. So need it. And colour returning to my face! Looking less like a ghoul 😆

Insane loadshedding and am on it in-between. I had it open after Meesterboms story, had a small dance in the kitchen and the power went out.

Know what though?

Loadshedding sure does help with forced rest and outside time so... hmmmm... perhaps it's a good thing in some ways.

Happy days 🌹

That’s wonderful to hear you had a good rest dear 😊🤗

It’s a shame from the load shedding, but like you say… it does make people do other things. And going out is one of them. And resting more… no disturbances.

Happy days indeed.
Hope your day is lovely, Bigg hugg 🤗😁

Wow?

I had NO idea!

And so many different mediums and SO good!!! 💥👀

Airbrushing is hard!

I love the snails :D I love snails though. They're adorable. But the detail and realism here is incredible

Art gets me so excited. I'm SO excited right now. To have found another artist 😁

You are a dark horse, my friend. Nice to learn more about you.

And see you in the photo. You're beautiful 💓

You just made my day sister 😇🫣 don’t make me blush hehehe 🤭

I started my art in 2011 with airbrushing. After that I learned drawing and much later painting.
It truly saved my life… there is somewhere a post about it buried in the ladies of hive community about that part of my life.

Somehow I love the mostly forgotten things… like snails or unusual things. So why not paint them 😉

Aaawwww thanks for that, you are a sweetheart 🤗🤗🥰
Have a wonderful evening, make it magical ✨

Ah... it's an incredible way to process and release

I understand that fully!

You have talent, beautiful. Seriously. I do hope you're still making art.

I did a four year degree and never learned to draw like that. Concept was my strength. I was too lazy (and partying too hard, truth be told) to practice and hone my skills.

Maybe one day you start again too, when you are ready. 😊
Enjoy your evening 😎

I've started ;)

I'm super interested in NFTs. I've been busy with a project for six months now.

But so many creative ideas and I keep switching lanes. So I work on things in bits and pieces 😆

But also... timing. It's not time for it to be released yet.

I have some stuff to finish off here first. 👍🏼

I think focusing on one area of creativity is really about where you are in your personal journey as a creative?

Right now I'm mostly writing still. I still have too much to day and document.

When it's done I can maybe focus on more philosophical concepts and questions that work better as visuals.

It's like that

Yay that’s great to hear 🥳🥳

Oh that’s is interesting. Keep going… it will come together in the right time 😎🤓 you made me curious now, especially as you are working on it for a while.

Sometimes it does needs to be in the right time. You know when it will be time to be released.
Good luck with it, have fun creating!

I can imagine… good you are writing and documenting it.
Or a combination of all 😉
Do what feels is right, then it will flow. You know what I mean.
