Until the End of the World
Vancouver is considered a boring no-fun city, in no small part because of the NIMBYism that goes on. But beneath the mild façade, you will find a city that is on the verge of the apocalypse. At least, it appears so anyway. You can't turn a corner without encountering a public piece that just screams: Look on my Works, ye Mighty, and despair!

It is no secret that a high percentage of the population partakes of mind altering chemicals such as cannabis. That may partly account for some of the engineering and architectural hijinks that are allowed to pop-up around the city.

Yes, these are alien pods. Any more questions?
I mean, what's not to like about seeing a mini stonehenge while you're out for a stroll with a latte in hand and your little dog (with a tiny jacket on) in tow?

Touch the stones if you would like seven years of good luck.
Man, this guy was just blowing his horn out there and I even took a video of his tremendous effort that echoed across the city, then swiftly stopped, and he began to belt out a song, off-key but with plenty of soul, then back to his horn, blowing blowing like a mad saint, a sparse crowd had gathered around him, appreciating his tireless effort, blowing and singing his urban blues, then he stopped and riffed about love, what was love, who you love, how you make love, and so forth, he was really grooving out with verses in that winter sunset, and we all listened and applauded, agreeing generally that love was goooood!

It didn't take long for things to get unsettling.

I mean, what is this thing? The mother ship? There was some plaque explaining what it was, but I have fear of anything that is different, so I didn't bother reading it. Just kidding :) I read it but forgot what it was. It has to do with the train museum across from it.

Hmmm never expected Vancouver to be like this. It's funny how public art sometimes reflect the tales behind a city. Your humor got me😅. Pictures are well shot, I love them! Happy Weekend.

We have a reputation as a loony city in Canada. 😄 It's very artistic and wacky. Thank you for visiting and happy weekend, @esther-emmanuel!
