Staring at the Sun

This sunflower has everything: petals, pollen, geometry patterns, colours, and more. I just noticed that the center has little flowers that look like tiny stars. The sun is a star. Why are there tiny stars in the SUN flower? 🤔 Apparently, they're called 'florets,' and they make up the head. Each one has male and female reproductive parts and produce a single seed. It's interesting how they appear to bloom starting from the outside of the head towards the center.

This flower creates weird visual effects if you stare at it long enough. I wonder if bees and other insects get a kick out of this effect. I know I do.

Thank you! I used an Olympus TG6 camera in 'microscope' mode. It captured some nice details.

That's a fantastic shot. I start thinking of Eastern mysticism and the whole universe being contained in all of us. The indivisibility of existence....I can go on and on :)

Nature is so mysterious. From a distance, the fine details on the flowers don't appear so salient. It's almost as if the mind glosses over those details. This is why I like macro shots, they can reveal a whole new hidden world.

It's incredible how nature develops in those perfect fractals, clearly visible in sunflowers. The inside is beautiful!

I need to take more macro shots because they transform a photographic subject.

Stunning! Those tiny star like florets really do make the sunflower like a mini universe.

I like that idea because it rings true. I think I read about the florets before, but I had forgotten all about it. So, I was stunned when I saw them in the picture. A mini universe of stars!

Wow, such a beautiful observation! 🌻 The way you connected the tiny florets to stars in the sunflower is really poetic—it truly feels like nature hides entire galaxies in the smallest details.”
