Some light experiments
The aurora hunting last night was a dud, but as I waited for the no-show, I took some pictures using the long exposure settings. Taking photographs in the dark is extremely difficult because the camera doesn't have enough light to focus properly. First I took a picture of a bike with glowing blue wheels. It was moving fast and combined with the long exposure, it created a blue streak.

Then I photographed a vehicle, which was going faster and thus had a longer streak than the bike.

I liked the combination of natural and artificial elements of the photos. I also like that the camera did a great job of stabilizing the scene. I used a tripod, so this helped in creating a crisper scene. There is only the slightest hint of aberration in the stars, which is a good way to tell how well the camera was able to focus on the scene. The northern lights never showed up, but it was still a great night.

Amazing lighting there
Thank you! My Olympus tough cam performed better than I thought it would. :D
Even if you couldn't catch the Northern Lights, the night is beautiful and so are those stars! Nice combination with the lights.✨
It's true! There were many people out that night hoping to see them, but it was still a beautiful night. I did catch the aurora the previous night, and it was amazing!
I know you will get some at some point!
