A Fowl Place- Show Me A Photo Contest Round 188

Ducks are a common sight around these parts because there are many bodies of water where they hang out. This bird sanctuary in the city of Burnaby is home to several species of ducks like mallards, barrow's goldeneye, and in this case, the mysterious American coot.

Different kinds of bird show up here because it's a migratory route, so they stop to rest, eat tasty morsels, and have a good time.

I'm submitting this image for the Bird and Water #smap contest as it shows the variety of birds present in the wildlife reserve

The colours, the lines and the contrasts really catch my attention. Here is a place where there are a lot of them, and they are just like those. I love them!😃

I think we have too many of the Canada geese here, and they're causing environmental problems, but they look cool :)

Thank you! This was a lucky find as I was not expecting that many birds, but it was full of these ducks and other species flying around. It's the first time I come across the American teal and coot, so that was exciting.

It's awesome to live near a migratory route, isn't it? I was only familiar with mallard ducks until I moved out here (from Indiana). So many different species. ... You captured the colors very well, and only one out of focus. My favorite is this one:

I agree. The migratory routes are perfect places to find rare birds. I had only seen mallard ducks and Barrow's goldeneyes, so this was the first time seeing the American teal and coot, so that was great. I'll need to do more research on the bird's migration patterns so I'm there at the right moment.

It is like a busy highway for ducks. 😀
It is so nice to see different birds in one place. Lovely shots.

Thank you! I was amazed at the variety of species in a single place, but it makes sense because it's a migratory route.
