Detener la prisa para agradecer: Aprendiendo a mirarme con más amabilidad / Stopping the rush to give thanks: Learning to look at myself with more kindness. [ESP-ENG]

Yesterday, something very simple happened to me, but it deeply touched my heart. I stopped for a moment to look at the sky, to contemplate the horizon without rushing. In that moment of silence, I felt an immense need to thank God for all the beautiful things He has given me—things that, to be honest, I often haven't fully appreciated.
And I realized why this happens to us:
We are often so focused on "how" we should do things or so trapped in the outcome that we lose perspective on life itself.
We turn so much toward the past—toward failures, what we did wrong, and that constant self-condemnation—that we end up immersing ourselves in sadness, pain, and routine. We lock ourselves in a fog where we can't see what is right in front of us: the beautiful little details of daily life, the valuable people surrounding us, and the new opportunities coming our way.
Being trapped in what didn't happen is what truly holds us back.
Unlearning the habit of punishing ourselves isn't stepping backward; it's making room to heal and to look at life from a gentler place.
Self-condemnation is, at its core, the illusion of wanting to change what has already passed through constant self-reproach. We get caught in the trap of thinking that reliving our mistakes over and over will give us back the control we lost. But the only thing that excessive demand achieves is stripping away our peace. True maturity isn't about harshly judging the person we were yesterday, but about embracing them, learning the lesson, and choosing a kinder perspective for the person we are today.
Therefore, sometimes we simply need to:
Change our perspective: Stop obsessing over what went wrong in the past so we can appreciate the present we are building.
Let go of self-condemnation: Accept with love that we made mistakes, but that we are not defined by them.
Pause to reflect and be grateful: Give our mind and heart permission to pause, look at the horizon, and reconnect with gratitude.
Ask for help and allow ourselves to be accompanied: Remember that we don't have to carry guilt or exhaustion alone; there are valuable people around us.
Start anew: Redefine our strategy, not from a place of pressure, but from learning and accumulated experience.
Recognizing that we need a shift in focus and allowing ourselves to contemplate the good that surrounds us is a massive act of healing. It frees us from the weight of yesterday and gives us back the peace to keep walking at our own pace.
Changing our perspective doesn't happen overnight; it is a daily exercise in patience and self-love. Whenever you feel that guilt is cornering you, remember that you can always pause, look at the sky, and start over from gratitude.
The sky has always been there, in all its vastness and calm; life's beautiful details have never left. It was us who, blinded by hurry and self-reproach, stopped looking.
Today, I invite you not to wait until you reach your limit to stop. We don't need to accumulate exhaustion or guilt to justify taking a rest or changing course.
And you, have you ever found yourself trapped in the guilt of the past without noticing the beautiful things right in front of you today? When was the last time you paused just to look at the sky and give thanks?
