Zelda meets a big piece of glass!
This morning the testing of my old gear continued. Can the huge, unwieldy Carl Zeiss 16-35/2.8 that I used for real estate jobs perhaps do the same as the 20 & 24/2.8?
Curious cat!
In my opinion letting pure chance and randomness can make for great images, so instead of wiping the condensation on the front lens I grabbed this shot of Zelda.
Looks dangerous, yeah?
Using her as the subject I wanted to try out the AF close up, so when she yawned I pressed the shutter, having no real idea if it would work or not. But it did!
Looks feral!
No she was not angry or scared! She was simply still yawning hehe...
Seeing that I tested the 16mm while petting her, and that worked out very well!

The 35mm could be the most useful here, although the lens is huge I'd still have a very good 35 with good AF, instead of all manual Nikon lenses...
The same, random flower as yesterday!
How does it do close up with colours? Well actually the same, for practical purposes. I'd still choose the 20/2.8 if I could, but I can't drag everything across the world...
The backside of our garden
This worked out very well! Maybe the colours are even better, but differences like that will be superseded in post as a general rule.
What matters for me is always the practical, real life results, especially when it comes to workflow. So AF is perhaps a good choice for this trip...
Its huuuge
I guess I have kinda associated this big piece of glass with pure, commercial work of a type that I never enjoyed. Perhaps that is why I have not used it for years?
Normally I do not like nor need AF for wider lenses, but since I'm also trying to change my style and especially ramp up the daily production a lot it might be the best choice!
I'll have to decide soon, but I feel that I've settled on using this gear instead of selling it. Now, if I can sell the other stuff before leaving then I could extend the trip... We'll have to see.
That's all for now!
