Roadside variations, Saigon, Vietnam #Monomad

There is always a market close by in Vietnam it seems! Also there are all sorts of small, family run stores, which I really like.

People are very vigilant here as well! I guess that comes with the territory, I'm never interested in hanging around with tons of tourists, nor the most "developed" or international areas. Been there done that, local is much better!

It was hard to get natural, undisturbed interaction for that reason. Also I did not feel up to hanging around for too long, that is when people might really start wondering...

Of course interacting directly with people is the best, but for this trip that was not something I felt up to, I had other things happening online too.

I can't really eat too much fruit any longer... It would have been an ideal addition to what I got at that street corner beef restaurant of course, but since I was without too many external distractions I used the stay to be more strict about diet too. Intermittent fasting is a good combination with walking around for hours with a camera!

This guy was probably hauling something from the market to his store, or the other way. It reminds me of working in stores back in the eighties, using different sorts of trolleys, but not along the road like this too often.

Need to bring dinner home? You won't even need to get off the motorbike!

There is cheap and relatively healthy food like this available all over.

This couple on the motorbike kept chatting to the food seller, perhaps they're family, or perhaps they just knew each other from years of buying & selling food?

To the left of this was a coop store that I used quite a bit, it had some simple, healthy things that other stores did not sell, so that worked well.

This food vendor was just watching the motorbikes flow by. I'd totally do the same if I had to stay at a spot like that without too much to do, its not nature like a river, but I think it has sort of the same function, its calming in a meditative way.

The next post will be the last from the trip. I found this area and hotel by walking from the airport half on random, it was not exactly where I aimed for, but it worked very well for these pictures and my budget.

So tomorrow will be about the walk back to the airport. Vietnam still have airports that are in the cities themselves, like here and Da Nang. And since I really like walking streets where most coast by in a taxi that is perfect!
