PhotoFeed Contest - Wildlife Photography

One really nice occasion for me to use my killer Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM lens.

There is always some pain when I carry it with me, because only that lens weights 2.8 kg. Add the camera, add the other lenses, add the filters plus extra batteries, the backpack itself. Too heavy, always :)))

Its huge advantage though is, it brings me so close to my subjects without disturbing them at all...

Here, those Dalmatian Pelicans are amazing subjects indeed!

The first photo from this post today is my humble entry to the photographic contest by @photofeed , thank you very much for the great opportunity and your efforts! Good luck to everyone involved!

You are kindly invited and more than welcome to join "The Photographic Society" Community on HIVE here: @hive-142821, where photographers and enthusiasts share not only their works but also discuss concepts and techniques, and also some hot topics and news about our favorite art.

The weights must truly be intense but the beauty they brought out is enchanting.

This is really awesome... your Canon 400mm lens 🔥 I think it must be somewhat uncomfortable but the results put that discomfort aside.

Great shots of those dalmatian pelicans @lightcaptured 👏🏻

Thanks a lot, Dimas. Indeed, the lens brings pain in the back, in the arms and hands, but the results are all worth it!

    :)

    Hello my friend @lightcaptured
I think that these pelicans are amazing ! To think that a bird of that size can take flight from the water !
Not to mention that you got a good photo there too. Stay well my friend.

Do you know if you had used the #contests tag, you post would have been featured in https://www.hivelist.org/created/contests, giving your post extra eyeballs and the opportunity to earn LIST tokens as well?

    Thanks for the info.
So the tag is better suited for the contests than contest entries?

    Yes, you got it.

Then it appears posts like this one aren't quite suitable for this tag. If I create a new contest, I'll use it. Thank you.

I've been thinking... if you click on the MTO 1000 from this distance ... the pelican will fill the whole frame)))
Great hunting, congratulations on the trophies))

    Thank you! True!
Yes, the hunting was pleasure, apart from the few moments I almost fell from the boat trying to be as close as possible to the water surface :D

there was a time when I had the idea to make a small foam raft for the camera... then you can shoot almost from the water (you are in the water yourself).
But that's how you can flip a raft with a camera... accidentally🤣😂 😅

    Great idea, actually! :)
By the way, I had a nice Olympus Tough camera, it was able to be stepped on, thrown, kicked, frozen, diving down to 20m, etc. The only problem was JPEG only :)))

not... my camera will not withstand such extreme tests))
If you make a raft, it is wide enough and the camera should not be placed on the very bottom.
Then you can swim quietly in the reeds and hunt birds, flowers, insects near the water.

But I was in Abkhazia and there was the source of the river with a narrow corridor between the rocks. There such a raft was simply necessary to swim to the source. But I had nothing to make it out of, and I didn't dare to swim with a camera in one hand))

This reminded me of another experience, where I went rafting with a friend in the wild waters of a spring river with that same extreme camera. GoPro has this feature to shoot automatically every n-th second but this one didn't so I missed the most interesting moments. One of them was turning upside down and totally wet :)))

For such extreme shooting, there must be a protected camera))
