It's awesome to own a fast lens

Indeed, it is great to own a lens with max aperture values of f/1.8 or f/1.4

There are some "monsters" that even have values of f/1.0 or even f/0.96, can you imagine that?

Now, you'll say, those are very very pricy. Yeah, some of them really are but there are not-so-expensive and great lenses like the famous Canon 50mm f/1.8 and it is in the range of EUR 100-110 as new. Nikon and the other brands also have a similarly priced twins.

Personally, I own the 50mm f/1.4 but to be honest, I cannot see any major advantages compared to its f/1.8 brother. Here are few samples I took at f/1.8.

The only advantage I could figure out for the moment is the ability to shoot in a bit darker places at f1.4 but the sharpness then isn't great at all.

Actually I don't see any connection with macro here as I was focusing on the lens aperture capabilities.

If it is a dedicated macro lens, or macro tubes, etc. are used then it is capable of taking macro shots. Right?
