Adobe Lightroom Classic gets AI in its version 13
Now, now, now.
Those of us, impressed by those special numbers, won't miss the chance to make a comment that the first version of, in my humble opinion, THE best desktop software for handling photographs, is indeed:
13
Nothing goes on by accident, right?
Usually, once updated, Lightroom pops such info window with short summary of all the changes.
I decided to test two of the new features, the "Point Color" and of course, the freshly embedded AI one.
The Point Color, I like a lot, to tell you.
It is pretty self-explanatory.
Grab the color picker with the mouse, click to select a point and then at the right-hand side change to color.
Easy-peasy!
Do you remember the photo of "Eyes of Sibiu" from my travel post yesterday?
Here are a couple of quick edits of it. It takes less than a second for my computer to process them.
Awesome, I'll definitely use that!
Now, the "Lens Blur", the AI one.
It is supposed to be easy to use but it takes a bit more to get to know it.
My computer is relatively new and powerful as post-processing of RAW file requires power.
So actually it wasn't very pleasant to have to wait more than a half of a minute so it is analyzed.
The result isn't bad, kinda what I expected but be patient as every sliding or change takes several seconds to be visualized. Obviously, any AI feature requires a lot of energy!
Now a general question, does anyone measures the carbon print of AI, on a planetary base?

(no space) to get help on Hive. InfoJesus lord and Thor and all the gods that have been and will be born in the minds of humans in the future! Those are some seriously great features. I don't actually use Lightroom at all and I've been pretty fateful to the latest Photoshop version that does not need internet access because I don't want my Photoshop doing that but this makes me seriously consider updating to the latest version and also start using Lightroom. Although I can see myself going through all my old photos and editing them hour after hour and sitting in front of my computer for weeks and months so perhaps I better not update anything.
But holy cow those changes and all the opportunities that come with it are awesome!
As I pay for Creative Cloud Photography plan, I have the latest versions of both PS and LR but to be honest, I use PS only 1-2% of the time. I love the LR catalogue and export features, tagging, searching, etc. It is almost impossible to double-post a photo as once I export for web, I tag those images with green color to their catalogue thumbnails. So convenient. Especially the fact that storing all my changes and references to more than 100k photos, on several HDD and backup devices, mostly in RAW format, takes a bit more than 200 MB :) So easy to backup... Long story short, LR still is, IMHO, the ultimate photographer desktop software :)
I love lightroom but despise Adobe. I dropped it completely earlier this year, and while my workflow still hasn't recovered I refuse to go back. I'm not a professional so taking it slower is fine by me.
The only think I don't like about my CC subscription is the 12 EUR I pay every month :)
What software do you use at the moment?
Right now I use Photoprism to organize everything and Rawtherapee/Darktable for editing.
I still have to publish manually to flickr, but otherwise it works well.
Thanks for sharing that info.
I tried Darktable some time ago but it wasn't up to my taste, to be honest. I am sure they've improved with time, though, a free alternative gets more user feedback for sure.
It doesn't have any. The dudes who supply energy for its hardware, they do.
