I'm not sure where you are located but if it was in South Australia, I'd say that the flower is Solanum elaeagnifolium or Silverleaf Nightshade. It's a gorgeous plant but unfortunately, toxic. If it's not that one, its definitely a Solanum of some sort so your search should begin there.

No worries! Solanaceae is a huge Family form which many of our usual foods comes but there are so many members that many are toxic. I'm glad your kids are safe!

I was trying to try to I.D. this plant, for possible food or herbal use. Too toxic to be usable, even though it is a cousin to a potato. Strange how that works out, LOL.

Solanums are tough and prolific, so we've learned to breed the good parts that are edible.
