These days we went to an area we didn't know called Bellavista de La Florida. It is a sector that is in Santiago, and even the subway has a station that goes there.
When we got off, we saw a wonderful and beautiful square called Plaza Bellavista. I really liked it a lot, so much that I decided to take a few pictures, I was really delighted with how beautiful that square was.

En estos días fuimos a una zona que no conocíamos llamada Bellavista de La Florida. Es un sector que queda en Santiago, y hasta el metro tiene una estación que llega ahí.
Al bajarnos, vimos una plaza maravillosa y hermosa llamada Plaza Bellavista. Realmente me gustó muchísimo, tanto que decidí tomar unas cuantas fotos, estaba realmente encantada con lo bonita que era esa plaza.

Around it, there was the subway station, some residential buildings and the Municipality of La Florida. The square is full of benches, some with important characters of the history of Chile. It has walkways and green areas with well-kept trees.

Alrededor de la misma, estaba la estación del metro, unos edificios residenciales y la Municipalidad de la Florida. La plaza, está llena de bancas, algunas con personajes de la historia importantes de Chile. Tiene caminerías, y áreas verdes con árboles bastante cuidados.

Among the people who were there was Pablo Neruda. He was a Chilean poet and politician born on July 12, 1904, author of important books such as “Crepusculario”, won the national prize of literature in 1945 and the Nobel prize of literature in 1971. He died of cancerous cachexia on September 23, 1973. In Chile, this important character has a house that is now used to be visited by tourists called “Neruda's house”.

El fue un poeta y político chileno nacido el 12 de julio de 1904, autor de libros importantes como “Crepusculario”, ganó el premio nacional de la literatura en 1945 y el premio Nobel de literatura en 1971. Murió de Caquexia cancerosa el 23 de septiembre de 1973. En Chile, este importante personaje tiene una casa que ahora se usa para ser visitada por el turista llamada “la casa de Neruda”.

In another of the benches we can find Nicanor Parra. He was a Chilean poet, physicist and professor, born on September 5, 1914. His most famous poem was “the poisonous miserable moon”, he died at 103 years of age of a dysphonia or possible sinusitis.

En otro de los bancos podemos encontrar a Nicanor Parra. Este, fue un poeta, físico y profesor chileno, nacido el 5 de septiembre de 1914. Su poema más famoso fue “la venenosa luna miserable”, murió a los 103 años de una disfonía o posible sinusitis.

Other important people I met in this plaza were Julio Martinez and Sergio Livingstone. The former was an important Chilean sports journalist, winning the national journalism award. He was born on June 23, 1923 and died on January 2, 2008 of a respiratory arrest at the age of 84. The second character was a Chilean soccer player and sports journalist. He was born on March 26, 1920 and died of cardiac arrest on September 11, 2012.

El primero fue un importante periodista deportivo chileno, ganando el premio nacional de periodismo. Nació el 23 de junio de 1923 y murió el 2 de enero de 2008 de un paro respiratorio a los 84 años. El segundo personaje, fue futbolista y periodista deportivo chileno. Nació el 26 de marzo de 1920 y murió de un paro cardíaco el 11 de septiembre de 2012.

And finally, I came across one who is very famous in Chile, Gabriela Mistral. Chilean poet, diplomat and educator, she received the Nobel Prize for literature in 1945. She was the first Latin American woman to receive the Nobel Prize. She can be found on the Chilean 5,000 peso bill. She was born on April 7, 1889 and died on January 10, 1957 of pancreatic cancer.

Y por último, me encontré con una que es muy famosa en Chile, Gabriela Mistral. Poeta, diplomática y pedagoga chilena, recibió el premio Nobel a la literatura en 1945. Fue la primera mujer iberoamericana en recibir el premio Nobel. Ella, se puede encontrar en el billete de 5.000 pesos chileno. Nació el 7 de abril de 1889 y murió el 10 de enero de 1957 de Cáncer de páncreas.
