Lindau - Germany's hidden diamond

Today I will tell you about an extraordinary place, as I promised you. I will take you to a small town in southern Germany, which for me is unique - Lindau. After walking around Memmingen, we took the train to Lindau, which was our final destination. The town itself is not very big, its population is only about 25 thousand people. That is why it is not so widely known, but for me it is certainly one of the most beautiful places. The city consists of a continental part and an island part, which is the central part, where the real life boils and all the beauties of the city are there. Our hotel was also in the island part. After arriving at the station, we headed there first to leave our luggage and rest a little. Here are some of the first things we saw on our way to the hotel.

Right from the start, the city looked quite promising and I had a feeling that we were going to like this place a lot. After check-in and a short rest at the hotel, we went for a walk and exploring the island. The island is not very big and can easily be toured even in one day, but we decided to do it in two. We decided that this way we would be able to better enjoy all the amazing views and take our time.

From the very beginning, we were impressed by the cozy quay, around which were located various restaurants and cafes where you can eat and enjoy the view. We were also impressed by the presence of many small boats and ships that were parked. Locals and people from all over Germany used these boats for trips and holidays in the vast Lake Constance when the weather was nice. These people just really enjoyed life.

From there we continued the walk in one half of the island. It was extremely impressive to me how the beauties of Lake Constance unfold in front of you, on one side you can see the shores of Switzerland, on the other those of Austria, as well as the Alps themselves. It creates the feeling that you are in the center of Europe and everything is so beautiful and close to you. There are also great beaches on the island, where in good weather you can swim and relax. However, the locals told us that in winter it can get very cold and there is a lot of snow. Isn't it magnificent how all the seasons come together - this place is truly magical.

We ended the evening by the pier with German beer and delicious sausages, admiring the city lights and headed to the hotel for a rest.

As we had decided, we left the rest of the island for the second day. After we slept, had breakfast and went for a walk. We came across a very interesting bridge on which the names of all the Nobel Laureates are written. We learned from the locals that the city hosts an annual meeting of young scientists with Nobel laureates in various fields. The weather was again incredibly nice and we had more and more beautiful views that took our breath away.

We then stopped to rest and just enjoy this indescribable beauty. All the people there were so relaxed, enjoying every moment and filled you with a zest for life. We tried the pistachio gelato and....oh my god it was so delicious, I will never forget the taste. So if you visit Lindau you must try it!! :)

After the short break, we decided to go into the center of the island and explore the neat little streets and buy some souvenirs. Believe me, the views there were as good as those along the coast. The whole island created a great feeling of coziness and tranquility.

Everywhere was very colorful, patterned and there were small neat benches and places where you can rest or drink a nice coffee. This city simply cannot leave you indifferent.

We spent the last third day on the island of Mainau, which was an amazing experience. But there's a lot to tell, so I'll do that in another post. Lindau definitely impressed us a lot and will remain in my heart as a hidden gem worth seeing :)
