Heilstätten Beelitz - Part 1 - Urban Exploration on HIVE
The Travelling Bed
While searching for pictures on my hard drive, I happened to come across photos from the Beelitz sanatoriums from 2013. ... I forgot what I was actually looking for. 🙄 Never mind, I'll remember. I can't remember exactly when I was in the sanatoriums for the first time. It was probably around 1996, 1997. And I'm even less sure how often I've been there. Construction of the sanatoriums began in 1898. The last building, the surgery centre, was built in 1930. The facility was built by the state insurance organisation as a lung sanatorium. At this time, tuberculosis was raging in Berlin. Around a third of the population died from it.
In 1945, the Red Army took over the site and operated the largest military hospital outside the Soviet Union. The site is around 200 hectares in size and comprises 60 buildings, including a combined heat and power plant, a bakery, a butcher's shop, a laundry, administrative buildings and much more in addition to the hospital buildings.
Bei der Suche nach Bildern auf meiner Festplatte bin ich zufällig auf Fotos aus den Beelitzer Heilstätten aus dem Jahr 2013 gestoßen. ... ich hab vergessen, wonach ich eigentlich gesucht habe. 🙄 Na egal, das fällt mir schon wieder ein. Ich weiß gar nicht mehr so genau, wann ich das erste Mal in den Heilstätten war. Es dürfte so 1996, 1997 gewesen sein. Und noch weniger weiß ich, wie oft ich dort war. Mit dem Bau der Heilstätten wurde 1898 begonnen. Im Jahr 1930 wurde das letzte Gebäude, die Chirurgie gebaut. Die Anlage wurde von der Landesversicherungsanstalt als Lungen-Heilstätte errichtet. Zu dieser Zeit wütete in Berlin die Tuberkulose. Ungefähr ein Drittel der Bevölkerung ist daran gestorben.
Im Jahr 1945 übernahm die Rote Armee das Gelände und betrieb dort das größte Militärkrankenhaus außerhalb der Sowjetunion. Das Gelände ist ca. 200ha groß und umfasst 60 Gebäude, neben den Krankenhausgebäuden unter anderem ein Heizkraftwerk, eine Bäckerei, eine Fleischerei, eine Wäscherei, Verwaltungsgebäude und einiges mehr.
In 1994, the Soviet armed forces withdrew from Germany. The sanatoriums stood empty. Some buildings, such as the Alpenhaus, had fallen into disrepair, but most of the buildings were still in fairly good condition. The site was divided into four parts, separated on one side by the railway line and on the other by the road. At the time of construction, men and women were housed strictly separately. All the buildings were connected to each other via supply tunnels. Some of these tunnels were sealed by the Red Army. Later, probably in 2016 or 2017, all of these tunnels were closed. Until then, it was very Urbexer-friendly. Once you had found access to one building, you could get into all the other buildings via the tunnels, no matter how securely the doors were locked. 😁
1994 zogen die sowjetischen Streitkräfte aus Deutschland ab. Die Heilstätten standen leer. Einige Gebäude, wie zum Beispiel das Alpenhaus, waren verfallen, die meisten Gebäude waren allerdings noch in einem recht guten Zustand. Das Gelände war in vier Teile geteilt, getrennt zum einen durch die Eisenbahntrasse, in die andere Richtung durch die Straße. Zum Zeitpunkt des Baus waren Männer und Frauen strikt getrennt untergebracht. Alle Gebäude waren über Versorgungstunnel miteinander verbunden. Einige dieser Tunnel wurden von der Roten Armee verschlossen. Später, das dürfte so 2016, 2017 gewesen sein, wurden dann alle dieser Tunnel verschlossen. Bis dahin war das sehr Urbexer freundlich. Wenn man einen Zugang zu einem Gebäude gefunden hatte, gelangte man über die Tunnel in alle anderen Gebäude, egal wie sicher die Türen auch verschlossen waren. 😁
I'd almost forgotten why the title of this post is "the travelling bed". Every time I visited, this hospital bed from the cover picture was in a different place. I don't mean in the room, but all over the grounds. There were people who carried the rather heavy bed several hundred metres across the grounds, most probably as a photo motif.
Jetzt hätte ich ja fast vergessen, warum die Überschrift dieses Beitrages "das Wanderbett" lautet. Bei jedem meiner Besuche stand dieses Krankenhausbett aus dem Titelbild an anderer Stelle. Ich meine jetzt nicht in dem Raum, sondern auf dem gesamten Gelände. Es gab Leute, die das doch recht schwere Bett mehrere hundert Meter über das Gelände getragen haben, höchstwahrscheinlich als Fotomotiv.

Me encantaron las fotos, sobre todo porque transmiten esa sensación de abandono y soledad en el tiempo.
Sin embargo, la instalación por fuera parece intacta en todos los sentidos.
Me dió gracia el hecho que la cama fuera trasladándose de una habitación a la otra por los motivos que fuesen , los cazadores de fotos harían lo que sea con tal de tener una toma hermosa.
