Yucca Tree

Yucca trees are famous low-maintenance ornamental plants. They have thick, woody trunks with sharp edges and can thrive in dry soil with plenty of sunlight. These plants are popular for landscaping, and many people buy them believing they bring good luck, growth, and positive energy—especially when placed near the entrance.

While researching and learning about yucca plants, I was amazed to discover their significant health benefits. They're used to help with diabetes, digestive problems, joint pain, and other illnesses. Beyond that, they're also excellent for skin and hair care. This plant is truly rich in many ways.

I'm not a morning person, so when a man came by early one morning shouting "Tao po?"—asking if anyone was home—I couldn't bring myself to get up. I wasn't ready to face anyone without brushing my hair, changing into proper clothes, and washing my face. My younger sister went out to see what he needed. He asked if we were interested in selling branches from our yucca tree.

When my mom learned how valuable those branches are, she decided never to give them away for free. I didn't know the exact pricing, so I checked ChatGPT, which showed that prices depend on branch length: $30–80 for 5–7 feet, and $80–120 for 7–12 feet. One branch isn't cheap! It turns out we have quite a fortune tree in our backyard.

We made a mistake by not researching the price before quoting our buyer. We had charged only $15–50 per bouquet. Lesson learned! We discovered that the best way to increase value is to replant the branches so they develop roots. These plants are highly sought after for landscaping, making the tree quite valuable. When the buyer asked us to sell the entire tree for $200, we declined.

Sometimes unexpected things come back to reward us in ways that leave us speechless. We get so caught up in chasing what we think we need that we overlook the valuable resources already in our homes and backyards. Skills we've never trained, talents we've ignored—they all have worth. That realization was beautiful.

I was looking for money, but money found me instead. What a happy day!
