Small Acts, Big Impact

The purpose of my trip to Lobo was to help my friend Angela prepare for the soft opening of her tutorial learning center. She planned to bring school tools and supplies for the children to use and enjoy. Originally, she intended to bring just one box, but it turned into two big boxes, plus boards, wood materials, and a laminator.

Storage boxes

JeepneyTo save money, she decided not to hire a van or private vehicle. Thankfully, we had a ride going down from the mountain that brought us to the bus terminal- Thanks Kuya Ekton. Transferring the boxes to another vehicle was easy, and everything went smoothly. We truly felt that God’s intervention was with us.

We rode a bus from Lobo to SM Lipa, which took more than two hours because of traffic. We were a bit scared because the bus was old, the engine sounded like it was struggling, and the roads were steep and uphill. Thank God, we arrived safely at SM Lipa.

Hill Road

From where the bus stopped, the terminal for the bus going to SM Calamba was quite far. We were grateful that the boxes had caster wheels, which made them easier to push. Then a young man named Vic kindly volunteered to help us push them. He was happy to help. We tried to give him a small amount of money as a token of appreciation, but he refused to accept it.

Another person helped us carry the heavy boxes. His name was Ekton, and he was very kind and patient with us. The van couldn’t accommodate everyone because the storage space was too small for all the boxes and passengers. As a result, we had no choice but to wait for the bus to arrive. The keeper told us that it might take a while before the bus got there. Since we had some free time, my friend and I decided to go inside the mall to look around while waiting. We went to National Book Store because they were having a big discount on children’s books. There were many colorful and interesting books on sale, and it was tempting to buy some. However, my friend decided not to purchase anything, so we just enjoyed browsing through the shelves.

Coloring booksAfter spending some time at the bookstore, we felt hungry and decided to have dinner at Greenwich. We were about to order our food when the keeper suddenly informed us that the bus had already arrived and was waiting for us outside. Hearing that, we quickly left the restaurant and ran toward the bus.

When we reached the bus, we saw that Kuya Loyal had already placed all the boxes safely in the luggage compartment. Everything was organized, and all we needed to do was get on the bus and find our seats. We felt very grateful for his help. Before boarding, we tried to give him a small amount of money as a token of appreciation, but he politely refused to accept it. His kindness made us even more thankful, and we sincerely appreciated everything he did for us that day.

After that, we transferred to another bus from SM City Calamba going to Los Baños. The terminal was quite busy, and many passengers were also lining up to board their buses. While we were arranging our things and preparing to load the boxes, another kind man approached us and offered to help.

He assisted us in carrying the boxes and placing them safely inside the bus compartment. We were very thankful because the boxes were heavy, and we were already tired from waiting and walking around earlier. Unfortunately, in the rush of everything, we forgot to ask for his name. Even though we didn’t get the chance to know him personally, we truly appreciated his kindness and willingness to help us without hesitation.

That experience reminded us that there are still many generous and helpful people around.

It was a simple act of kindness, but it made a big impact on us. Sometimes, small acts truly make the biggest difference.

In a world filled with chaos and uncertainty, one meaningful thing you can do is offer help.

“Next chapter of my story is here! Support me, or my friend won’t get paid… and I’ll have to face their wrath. Hahaha XD.”
