Yesterday we decided to take the bikes and hit the road, with a destination a bit to far from our starting point.
Ayer decidimos tomar las bicicletas e irnos de carretera, con un destino un poco lejano de nuestro punto de partida.
As you get further away from the city, the whole view becomes greener and bluer, and the satisfaction of the landscape is such that you forget how long you have been cycling.
A medida que te vas alejando de la ciudad toda la vista se torna verde y azul, es tanta la satisfacción del paisaje que se te olvida el tiempo que llevas pedaleando.
We completed the route in record time, reaching our destination, my father's neighborhood.
Completamos la ruta en tiempo record, llegando nuestro rumbo a su fin: el vecindario de mi padre.
My father has been a city man all his life, and not so many years ago he decided to enter the farming life.
Mi padre toda su vida ha sido un hombre de ciudad, y no hace tantos años decidió volcarse en la vida campesina.
What started with an interest in worm composting grew into a beautiful farm. When I say farm, I mean everything the word states, from pigs, chickens, and oxen to the greenest and bushiest corner.
Lo que empezó por un interés en el abono de lombriz creció para convertirse en una hermosa finca, Cuando digo finca me refiero a todo lo que predica la palabra desde los cerditos, gallinas y bueyes hasta el rincón más verde y frondoso.
I confess that it has been a change of scenery, with my dad portraying a different man, and one that I admire how deep he has come along the way.
Confieso que ha sido un cambio de escenario, con mi papá interpretando un hombre distinto y al que admiro cuán profundo ha llegado en el camino.
I see a glimpse of him in me when he tells me about his projects, which he is slowly crossing off the list.
Yo veo su pedacito de él en mí cuando me habla de sus proyectos, que poco a poco está tachando de la lista.
His current experiments are with propagation of cuttings of plants that are not very common in Cuba, such as peach, apple, cinnamon, stevia, anise, orange, and others a little more common such as laurel, rosemary, oreganillo, and others.
Su experimento actual son los esquejes, de plantas que en Cuba no es muy usual ver, como melocotón, manzana, canela, stevia, anís, naranja y otras un poco más comunes como el laurel, romero, oreganillo, y otras más.
Every time I visit, the farm has a new wonder. Everywhere you walk you will see a life beginning or a fruit ready to be harvested.
Cada vez que visito, la finca tiene una maravilla nueva. Donde quiera que te cueles verás una vida empezando o un fruto listo para su recogida.
A stay at the farm is undoubtedly the best way to reset the hustle and bustle of city life.
Pasarse por la finca sin lugar a dudas es la mejor forma de resetear el ajetreo de la vida citadina.
