Stumbling Upon Pembroke Bay

Aimless Exploration Leads to Gem of a Find

(An aerial view of Pembroke Bay)

When you're on vacation on a small island you hardly know, the best experiences happen when you you give in to the spontaneity. We just decided to drive around exploring to see what new places we could find. On an island like this, beaches and bays are plentiful, most of them unfrequented and hidden. These are the ones that tend to have the most character!

We said to ourselves that we would take any road that had the word "bay" in it and see what it had to offer and there are a lot of those around. Not even 10 minutes away from the resort into the drive we saw one in an unfamiliar area called Pembroke Bay road. It was a unanimous decision to take it! It was a short drive inwards or should I say outwards to the oceanfront and there it was infront of us. A Beautiful bay we had never yet laid eyes on.

As expected, these smaller lesser known and visited bays have so much character and charm compared to the popular ones on the island. There was this seawall and to the left of the bay not far from the sandy shore there was this really small and protruding land mass. There were only two locals here bathing at the time and so we had it all to ourselves.

The little island on the left side within the bay was my favorite thing. Who knew what fauna could be found upon it! It seemed to be all that was left after years and years of erosion of the main landmass.

The right side was no less exciting with hilly cliff sides covered in lush green trees that could only be found within the Caribbean. The seawall seemed to span all the way to the right side of the bay and so we decided to stay on the left.

The waters were extremely rough here that despite the amazing skies and weather that day. Though to be fair it was rainy and stormy all week and this was the first day of sunshine in a while.

It was so rough that waves splashed all the way up and above the seawall in a spectacular fashion! It was quite violent and I ended up getting wet while trying to get those shots but it was very worth it!

Even though we came with intentions to take a dip after a stormy few days, because of rough nature of the waves we decided not to. It was more than enough to have found such a charming but unpopular bay we had never seen or been to before and to have enjoyed the sights. Where we ended up after, thought made the whole drive the best of the week! Stay tuned for that!

I really can't stand to see such beautiful sea views and spots. It's one of the best edge fishing spots, I'm sure a lot of coral predators are there and they will be very fierce in ambushing prey, including fishing bait thrown there.

A very beautiful place that was immortalized so well by you, @lemniscate.

Thank you so much mate! Your keen marine eyes regarding the reef gave me some great insight on the location!
