Today I want to introduce you to a new member of our family. Her name is Sofia and she was adopted about 2 years ago. She is an affectionate and very calm cat.


Hoy les quiero presentar a un miembro de la familia. Ella se llama Sofía y fue adoptada hace, aproximadamente, 2 años. Es una gata cariñosa y muy tranquila.

I'll be honest with you, I'm not much of a cat lover. I was always more of a dog person. I like more that unconditional love and that energy they express, but with time, I managed to find the appeal of having cats.

Voy a ser honesto con ustedes, no soy muy amante de los gatos. Siempre fui más de perros. Me gusta más ese amor incondicional y esa energía que expresan, pero con el tiempo, logré encontrar el atractivo a tener gatos.
When she arrived I was not too enthusiastic and excited, as I said before, I am not a fan of these pets. But she managed to win my heart.
Cuando llegó no estaba demasiado entusiasmado y emocionado, como dije antes, no soy fan de estas mascotas. Pero ella logró ganarse mi corazón.

At first she was mega affectionate and mega playful. I remember sometimes I would be lying down and without warning, she would climb on top of me looking for warmth. Obviously, this seemed tender and sweet to me. Also, I remember how she would wrestle with my foot or my hand.

Al principio era mega cariñosa y mega juguetona. Recuerdo que a veces estaba acostado y sin previo aviso, se subía encima mío buscando calor. Obviamente, esto me parecía tierno y dulce. También, recuerdo como se ponía a pelear con mi pie o con mi mano.
One thing I discovered is that he loves to be under my clothes. He settles in and is able to sleep there. In general, cats love safe and secure places.
Algo que descubrí, es que le encanta estar debajo de mi ropa. Se acomoda y es capaz de dormir ahí. Por lo general, a los gatos les encantan los lugares seguros y protegidos.

The curious thing is that despite being 2 years old, she did not grow much in size. I don't know if she is defective or if it's just the breed. If I show you pictures of now and pictures of when she was one month old, you won't find many differences.

Lo curioso es que a pesar de tener 2 años, no aumentó mucho de tamaño. No sé si me salió defectuosa o simplemente, es la raza. Si les muestro fotos de ahora y fotos de cuando tenía un mes, no encuentran muchas diferencias.
Another curious thing about her is that it is very rare to hear her meow. She must be the quietest cat I have ever met in my life. For a moment we thought she had some medical problem, but no, she does.
Otra cosa curiosa de ella, es que es muy raro escucharla maullar. Debe ser el gato más silencioso que conocí en mi vida. Por un momento pensamos que tenía algún problema médico, pero no, es así.

Although cats can be very unfriendly and indifferent, they can be very affectionate and loyal, but you have to earn it. They make good pets, for those who are looking for a quiet and peaceful environment.

A pesar de que los gatos pueden ser muy antipáticos e indiferentes, pueden ser muy cariñosos y leales, pero hay que ganarlo. Son buenas mascotas, para los que buscan un ambiente tranquilo y pacífico.

Bienvenidos Sofia a la comunidad. Cada mascota es única, es normal sentir afinidad hacia una especie, como lo es en tu caso con los perros, pero a veces es solo tiempo para que esos seres se ganan el cariño y los gatos saben hacerlo a su manera y a un ritmo diferente. Que bonita es Sofía 💚
