Trip Extras: Puy du Sancy

As I've said many times on Hive, I take a lot of photos on trips, and a lot of the time many of them tend to be very similar. I try to avoid being too repetitive in my main travel post on a given destination, so I like to make a separate post with all of my trip extras.

I had a good amount of such photos after our trip to Le Mont Dore and mainly our hike up the Puy du Sancy. Several of the photos turned out really nice though if I do say so myself. Actually, some are what I would consider to be my most Instagramable shots, so I think a second post is certainly warranted. But I'll let you be the judge of that. Let's check out the photos. Here we go!

20220827_154538~3.jpg

The first is a photo of the "Grand Cascade" waterfall we saw after our main hike that day. The photo turn out really nice but was very similar to my other shots I took so it is a "trip extra" kind of picture. That's actually the only photo I have from the trip not of Puy du Sancy.

20220827_121110~2.jpg

Next is a photo of some heavy clouds rolling over the mountain ridge. It created a really cool effect in my opinion, and I'm quite happy with the photo.

20220827_113318~2.jpg

The clouds were particularly nice throughout the day. I really couldn't have asked for better conditions to take pictures.

20220827_114024~2.jpg

Nothing beats fluffy white clouds against a pristine blue sky. I could love that type of weather when hiking or traveling in general. But who doesn't really - duh.

20220827_113311~2.jpg

The way the sun hit the grasslands of the valley below made for an incredible view in this particular spot.

20220827_115621~2.jpg

Whenever I find a good spot like that I always take a lot of pictures there. Lots of different angles and different lenses on my phone - you get the idea.

20220827_112156~3.jpg

I can never choose which I like best though, so I always end up keeping them all. That being said - here are multiple shots of the mountaintop chalet restaurant.

20220827_112515~2.jpg

The hiking trail was pretty impressive on the mountain. The entire thing from the chalet to the summit was made up of wooden slats and stairs, essentially a long boardwalk.

20220827_115513~2.jpg

In the picture above you can see the chalet way below, which gives you an idea of how long the path was. The shot was taken from about 3/4's of the way to the summit, so there was more to go yet too!

20220827_122100~2.jpg

Next are a few randoms taken from the ridge and of an interesting rock formation I saw.

20220827_113153~2.jpg

The "saw tooth" stones seen in the next two photos reminded me of a sleeping dinosaur or Godzilla like monster partially burried in the dirt. Is it just me or do you see it as well?

20220827_113200~2.jpg

Now I'm going to get into a bunch of shots of my wife and dog that turned out really nice.

20220827_113429~2.jpg

We found this spot between two mountains that created a sort of natural frame. That paired with a valley below with the sun hitting the golden colored grass - it was a particularly nice look out view point. It's the same spot from the pictures above as well if you hadn't noticed.

20220827_113337~2.jpg

We did a mini photoshoot here with me trying some different angles and mixing it up between focussing on my wife or the dog, or both of them together.

20220827_113456~2.jpg

I liked how all of them turned out.

20220827_113840~2.jpg

I think it was mainly the subject matter.

20220827_113351~2.jpg

Well thats it for now. Until next time, thanks for stopping by.

For a city person like me, these sceneries are like heaven on earth. They're beautiful. 🤩

By the way, may I ask why the doggie is in the bag? 😅

He is getting old and gets tired on long walks and hikes like this so we put him in the backpack and carry him and he loves it. He usually walks a portion of the hike, then gets carried, then walks again.

That's so nice of you. I'm sure doggie is very happy to be outdoors hiking with you. 👍

Greetings @leaky20 ,

What lovely photography and what a scenic location.

The landscape is stunning and then to have these two subjects in the scenery is like the cherry on top.... ^__^

Kind Regards to you and your wife,

Yeah the cloud effect that day was really neat how they rolled over the mountains in clumps. Spectacular nature!

OK that's good to know. I never know when a good time of year to travel is in European countries, especially Northern ones. Thanks for the tip!

One thing I envy about trails in other countries especially in Europe is that your trails are well-established, paved if I may that makes the hike easier. Here in PH, you're lucky if you go on a hike on a sunny day otherwise, you'd be covered in mud and leeches after a hike.

But is it always the case?

They are not always so well groomed with infrastructure like this. Sometimes just a dirt or rocky path. Really depends on where you go. Never any leeches though. That's a whole new fear unlocked. 😲😱🫣

Wooow, wooow! The colors match perfectly, and I love it! Is that fog or clouds resting on the mountains?

I would consider them to be clouds personally. I'm not sure what the technical distinction is between fog and clouds though

If it's right on the mountains, that's fog. If it's higher up then are clouds.Same thing, you're right ;)

I think it's a matter of perspective as well. If you're low in the mountain and walking through them, then it's fog, but if you are higher up on the mountain and above them then they are clouds 😂

Fog to some hikers and clouds to others lol

Finally, someone who understands the humor in my comment ;) It's definitely a matter of perspective for me ;)
