Christmas Decorations

Tis the season for Christmas decorations.

We were a little late putting them up this year. We were maybe a week behind our normal schedule. But last weekend we pulled everything out of the closets and from under the staircase and got everything sorted and placed.

They are the same decorations each year (obviously) so you might have seen these all before. Nonetheless I'm going to show you our ornaments and decor anyways.

I started with the Christmas lights outside. This year they were a little harder to out up given the early onset of winter and just how cold it was outside.

I bundled up and got them all hung in a few hours on Saturday.

Outdoor lights are more for your neighbors then yourself but I like how they shine through our foyer windows. I also like that I can see my neighbors lights from our living room as well, so maybe those same neighbors appreciate our lights from their home? If not, I'm sure all of the people walking their dog enjoy them.

We have a collection of authentic German smokers which are our favorite Christmas ornaments and among our favorite travel souveniers in general. We collected them over several years when we were living in Europe.

The vintage pottery Christmas tree is a relatively new addition and its a nice piece for the nostalgia factor. My grandma had one when I was a kid.

We have three main German smokers and one additional small one that my wife got from work one year, which she really likes.

The white pottery Christmas trees are also a new addition. We bought them last year at a seasonal pottery show held in a neighboring town. We try and go every year and tend to buy a new tree each time.

Our Danish monkey always gets a Santa hat this time of year, just for fun.

I can't even remember where we bought this gnome. It was either in France or just a random store here in Canada. Its kind of "whatever," but its festive.

The tree was the last thing to go up. We don't do a real tree. We got this one from my wifes grandparents. Its still in pretty good shape.

I feel like the new led Christmas lights are nothing like the old incandescent ones that we had as a kid. They really don't have the same look. They seem less bright and less effective than they used to. What do you think? Do you notice that as well?

Anyway, those are my Christmas decorations. Have you decorated your house for Christmas or another seasonal occasion, holiday or festivity? What's your favorite ornament or decoration? Let me know in the comments. Until next time, thanks for reading.

There's three little Santa's with a pipe in his mouth 😂
Unless you mean the one that's traditionally dressed in full Santa gear. That one's my favorite

Ah yes the decorations of the season. I am split on them.

On the one hand, I am looking for less work and less stuff so I avoid it.

On the other hand, the family loves it and gets some happiness at the change and fun. So, I pretend to begrudgingly tolerate it.

The latest thing has been these damn Christmas gnomes. They seem to be mysteriously popping up and multiplying around the house. I can’t explain it! ;)

Anyhow, awesome decorations to share the holiday season!

Haha yes the Christmas gnomes. We have one but wouldn't be surprised if it multiplies 😂

I used to be against it but now i go with it as well. I'm a strict no decorations before December and they come down right after new years kind of person though.

We go pretty minimal at our house, but it is enough to keep us cozy and it reminds us what season it is.

Yeah that makes sense. I feel like ours are fairly minimal, but I guess its all relative. And each year one or two things get added so who knows where we will be 10 years from now lol

Christmas decorations really have a special way of bringing warmth and joy into everyday spaces. I loved seeing these details — they instantly create that cozy, festive feeling that makes this season so magical. Thank you for sharing this beautiful glimpse of Christmas spirit, it truly put a smile on my face 🎄✨

Yes I agree. They do have a warmth that they bring and do put you into a certain festive mindset I think

Beautiful decorations. Yes, us neighbours who walk our dogs especially enjoy all the Christmas lights .

I also prefer the old fashioned incandescent lights …. The new LED lights look awful. They hurt my eyes. I refuse to buy them.
