Shadow Hunters - A water fountain achieving the most beautiful effect: transforming into a giant mirror. / Una fuente de agua logrando el efecto más hermoso: transformarse en un espejo gigante. 😃❤️

I'm not entirely sure that the original idea of putting a giant fountain right in front of the Bicentenario Theater in San Juan was so that it would later transform into a huge mirror, but that's how it is. And what surprised me most is that I discovered this by chance when I was passing by at sunset, when I took the long way back to the hostel. My original idea was just to take a look at what the illuminated theater looked like, but luckily I found some much better and incredible images ❤️.

No estoy del todo segura de que la idea original de haber puesto una fuente gigante justo enfrente del Teatro Bicentenario en San Juan haya sido para que luego se transforme en un espejo enorme, pero así es. Y lo que más me sorprendió es que esto lo descubrí de casualidad cuando pasaba por ahí a la hora del atardecer, cuando tomé el camino largo para volver al hostel. Mi idea original solo era echar un vistazo a como se veía el teatro iluminado, pero por suerte me encontré con unas imágenes muchísimo mejores e increíbles ❤️.

The city of San Juan keeps with it a great history of reconstruction after the total destruction caused by a great earthquake more than 80 years ago. What at the time was a great tragedy, today is the cause of having so many modern buildings and a well-distributed and planned city. Generally, the cities of Argentina always preserve something of their historic center, but since everything was lost here, most of the things to enjoy are constructions with first-class architecture 😃.

La ciudad de San Juan guarda con ella una gran historia de reconstrucción tras la destrucción total causada por un gran terremoto hace más de 80 años. Lo que en su momento fue una gran tragedia, hoy sabe ser la causa de tener tantas edificaciones modernas y una ciudad bien distribuida y planificada. Generalmente las ciudades de Argentina siempre conservan algo de su casco histórico, pero como acá se perdió todo, la mayoría de las cosas para disfrutar son construcciones con arquitectura de primer nivel 😃.

One of my favorite parts of the city was the area around San Juan's Parque de Mayo. Three sites of cultural interest are concentrated there: the Civic Center, which functions as a paperwork center, the Bicentenario Theater and the old train station, currently a tourist information center. To add a little grace to the area, to cross the avenue that connects them you can find a pedestrian bridge that gives you a view of the mountains 😃.

Una de mis partes favoritas de la ciudad era la zona de los alrededores del Parque de Mayo de San Juan. En él se concentran tres sitios de interés cultural: el Centro Cívico, que funciona como centro de trámites, el Teatro Bicentenario y la antigua estación de trenes, actualmente centro de informes turísticos. Para agregar un poco de gracia a la zona, para cruzar la avenida que los conecta se puede encontrar un puente peatonal que de paso, te da una vista de frente a las montañas 😃.

Little by little the natural light from my walk was fading, but the spring season was giving me a beautiful purple sunset. This dim light managed to illuminate enough so that the reflections of everything that surrounded the large fountain in front of the theater began to appear. This fountain is shallow, perhaps only a few centimeters, and has a system of pressurized jets that luckily at that time were turned off to allow the glass effect. The water was so calm that the reflection was perfect with all the details very clear ❤️.

Poco a poco ya se estaba yendo la luz natural de mi paseo, pero la época primaveral me estaba regalando un hermoso atardecer violaceo. Esta luz tenue lograba iluminar lo suficiente como para que se empezaran a general los reflejos de todo lo que rodeaba la gran fuente enfrente del teatro. Esta fuente tiene poca profundidad, quizás solo unos centímetros, y cuenta con un sistema de chorros a presión que por suerte en ese momento estaban apagados para permitir el efecto cristal. El agua estaba tan calma que el reflejo era perfecto con todos los detalles bien nítidos ❤️.

What I liked most about this mirrored effect is that if you stood right in front of one of the buildings, you could achieve perfect symmetry. I stayed for a long time looking at this postcard, because it became almost hypnotic. Squinting a little, it gave the impression that everything was a single figure, the same above and below. Even if you looked straight at the source, it looked like it had a lot more depth than it actually did. Great optical illusion 😃.

Lo que más me gustó de este efecto espejado es que si te parabas justo enfrente de alguno de los edificios, podías lograr la simetría perfecta. Me quedé un buen rato mirando esta postal, porque se volvía casí hipnótica. Entrecerrando un poco los ojos, daba la sensación de que todo era una figura única, igual de arriba y abajo. Incluso si mirabas directo a la fuente, parecía que tenía mucha más profundidad que la que realmente tenía. Gran ilusión óptica 😃.

At the end of it all, my goal of seeing the Bicentennial Theater illuminated was fulfilled, and with an unexpected bonus. This theater is one of the most recent works in San Juan since it was only completed in 2016. A few days ago I had the opportunity to take a guided tour of its interior, where we learned all the curiosities about its construction. I was glad that there was a work of this quality in my country, and that it was precisely in the province that I was visiting ❤️.

Al final de todo, mi propósito de ver el Teatro Bicentenario iluminado se cumplió, y con un plus inesperado. Este teatro es una de las obras más recientes de San Juan ya que se terminó de construir apenas en el 2016. Unos días atrás había tenido la oportunidad de hacer una visita guiada por su interior, donde conocimos todas las curiosidades sobre su construcción. Me alegré de que haya una obra de esta calidad en mi país, y que estuviera precisamente en la provincia que yo estaba visitando ❤️.

I feel like this trip had a lot of amazing things, and even the little moments had something very meaningful. This city never stopped surprising me with everything I saw and I loved that more and more. It was also great to be surprised not only by the nature and the beauty of the mountains, but the city itself also presented its charm. I hope you liked these reflections as much as I did and if you have the opportunity to visit the province of San Juan, do not even hesitate to do so 💕.

Siento que este viaje tuvo un montón de cosas increíbles, y hasta los pequeños momentos tuvieron algo muy significativo. Esta ciudad no dejaba de sorprenderme con cada cosa que veía y eso me encantaba más y más. También fue genial sorprenderse no solo con la naturaleza y la hermosura de las montañas, sino que la ciudad en sí también presentaba su encanto. Espero que estos reflejos les hayan gustado tanto como a mí y que si tienen la oportunidad de visitar la provincia de San Juan, que ni siquiera duden en hacerlo 💕.
