Argentina - The coolest place I visited on my last trip: salty shore in the city of Miramar de Ansenuza. / El lugar más genial que visité en mi último viaje: costa salada en la ciudad de Miramar de Ansenuza. 😃❤️

The idea of going for a walk to the city of Miramar de Ansenuza in the province of Córdoba had arisen by chance at a family reunion last year. I remember that that night my cousin told us how beautiful this city was and all the places he had seen there: my aunts and I listened attentively and looked at the photos he had taken, not knowing that a few months later we could see those landscapes in live and direct I like to think that sooner or later good wishes materialize and in this case, the promise of that night to take us to see Miramar at some point came true. And my final verdict was that everything looked even better than in the photos ❤️.

La idea de ir a pasear a la ciudad de Miramar de Ansenuza en la provincia de Córdoba había surgido casualmente en una reunión familiar el año pasado. Me acuerdo que esa noche mi primo nos contaba lo linda que era esta ciudad y todos los lugares que había visto ahí: mis tías y yo lo escuchábamos atentas y mirábamos las fotos que había sacado, sin saber que algunos meses después podríamos ver esos paisajes en vivo y en directo. Me gusta pensar que tarde o temprano los buenos deseos se materializan y en este caso, la promesa de esa noche de llevarnos a conocer Miramar en algún momento se hizo realidad. Y mi veredicto final fue que todo se veía incluso mejor que en las fotos ❤️.

As part of an almost impromptu winter vacation plan, we packed up some of our stuff and headed out in his truck. At first we didn't know exactly where we were going but we didn't care because my aunts and I like to travel anywhere, but after the second day on the trip it was confirmed that we were going to Miramar de Ansenuza as promised. We went at our relaxed pace and it took us two days to cover the almost 800 km that separate us from this place. The province of Córdoba is quite large and we have already been several times, but it is always worth coming back for another walk ❤️.

Como parte de un plan casi improvisado de vacaciones de invierno, guardamos algunas de nuestras cosas y salimos a pasear en su camioneta. Al principio no sabíamos a donde íbamos exactamente pero no nos importaba porque a mis tías y a mí nos gusta viajar a donde sea, pero después del segundo día en viaje se confirmó que estábamos yendo hasta Miramar de Ansenuza tal como se nos había prometido. Fuimos a nuestro ritmo relajado y nos tomó dos días recorrer los casi 800 km que nos separan de este lugar. La provincia de Córdoba es bastante grande y ya fuimos varias veces, pero siempre vale la pena volver para un nuevo paseo ❤️.

The definitive plan was to stay a few days in Miramar, with some time to rest and another to explore. Personally, I don't like to rest and I like all the walking, so I invested all my energy in that, going for walks whenever I had the opportunity. The city of Miramar de Ansenuza is the only one on the shores of the great Laguna Mar Chiquita, the largest lagoon in Argentina. This place is exploited for tourism as a spa and has a large waterfront for walks at all hours 😃.

El plan definitivo fue quedarnos unos días en Miramar, con algo de tiempo para descansar y otro para recorrer. Personalmente no me gusta descansar y me gusta todo recorrer, así que invertí toda mi energía en eso, saliendo a caminar cada vez que tenía la oportunidad. La ciudad de Miramar de Ansenuza es la única a orillas de la gran Laguna Mar Chiquita, la laguna más grande de Argentina. Este lugar es explotado turísticamente como balneario y posee una gran costanera para dar paseos a toda hora 😃.

During our walk along the waterfront, in addition to finding a hyper-realistic statue of José Manuel de La Sota, former governor of Córdoba, we found what seemed to be a not entirely safe entrance to a part of the beach that we had not visited before. Like what happened in Epecuén with its overflowing lagoon, the city of Miramar also suffered from the flooding of its city in the 80s and reconstruction in subsequent years, but also some ruins are preserved to attract the curious. In this part of the coast, to access these ruins it was enough to jump over the new retaining wall made of stones and walk a little to the edge of the lagoon 😅.

Durante nuestro paseo por la costanera, además de encontrar una estatua hiper realista de José Manuel de La Sota, ex gobernador de Córdoba, encontramos lo que parecía ser una entrada no del todo segura hacía una parte de la playa que no habíamos visitado antes. Al igual que lo ocurrido en Epecuén con su laguna desbordada, la ciudad de Miramar también sufrió la inundación de su ciudad en la década del 80 y reconstrucción en los posteriores años, pero igualmente algunas ruinas se conservan para atraer a los curiosos. En esta parte de la costa, para acceder a esas ruinas solo bastaba con saltar el nuevo muro de contención hecho de piedras y caminar un poco hasta la orilla de la laguna 😅.

On the other side of the wall there is a great expanse of whitish and almost deserted beach. One of the most special characteristics of this lagoon is its water with a high salt content, and this is reflected in the ground and in every step you take. On the day we decided to do this walk, the sky was quite cloudy and without sun, so the whole landscape looked greyish, creating a great effect 😃.

Del otro lado del muro hay una gran extensión de playa blanquecina y casi desierta. Una de las características más especiales de esta laguna es su agua con alto contenido de sal, y esto queda reflejado en el suelo y en cada paso que das. Justo el día que decidimos hacer este paseo el cielo estaba bastante nublado y sin sol, por lo que todo el paisaje se veía grisáceo formando un efecto genial 😃.

As you get closer to the water, the green vegetation that could be seen near the street is disappearing and the trees affected by dehydration are taking center stage. I think these trees have adapted to the flood situation and remain standing despite the circumstances, with their white stems due to crystallized salt. And they are very photogenic 😃!

A medida que te vas acercando al agua la vegetación verde que podía verse cerca de la calle va desapareciendo y los árboles alcanzados por la deshidratación van tomando protagonismo. Pienso que estos árboles se adaptaron a la situación de inundación y se mantienen en pie a pesar de las circunstancias, con sus tallos blancos por la sal cristalizada. ¡Y son muy fotogénicos 😃!

Even many of them already have their roots exposed, a product of the constant rise and fall of the lagoon. I imagine what this place must have been like in its heyday: a lush forest to sit down to rest after a long week of work. But now they are only decorating this place in their own way 😃.

Incluso muchos de ellos ya tienen sus raíces expuestas, producto de las constantes crecidas y bajadas de la laguna. Me imagino cómo habrá sido este lugar en su tiempo de gloria: un bosque frondoso para sentarse a descansar después de una larga semana de trabajo. Pero ahora solo quedan decorando este lugar a su modo 😃.

The interesting thing about this part of the beach is that here you can see some remains of what used to be a city. Due to the rise of the rivers that flow here, the level of the lagoon grew, leaving a large part of the population under water (luckily no injuries). Over the years, this place has managed to recover, but they still left the ruins of their first constructions to remember their history. And that means bricks and foundation debris everywhere 😶.

Lo interensante de esta parte de la playa es que aquí pueden verse algunos restos de lo que antes solía ser ciudad. Por la crecida de los ríos que desembocan acá, el nivel de la laguna creció dejando a gran parte de la población bajo el agua (sin heridos por suerte). Con los años, este lugar ha logrado recuperarse, pero igualmente dejaron las ruinas de su primeras construcciones para recordar su historia. Y eso significa ladrillos y restos de cimientos por todos lados 😶.

To our luck, during our walk in this part of the beach we were also able to see some flamingos and ducks that were getting some air. A few days ago we had the opportunity to see them very close to our campsite and we thought that would be all, but they appeared on our way again. And just like the first time, they walked away as soon as they noticed our presence 😅.

Para nuestra suerte, durante nuestro paseo en esta parte de la playa también pudimos ver algunos flamencos y patos que estaban tomando un poco de aire. Algunos días atrás habíamos tenido la oportunidad de verlos muy cerca de nuestro camping y pensamos que eso sería todo, pero otra vez aparecieron en nuestro camino. Y al igual que la primera vez, se alejaban en cuanto notaban nuestra presencia 😅.

Although I think that in this part not because of the large amount of debris on the shore, in some other parts of the coast people go into the water to cool off on hot days. From what my cousin told us, this water and its high salt content immediately make you float if you jump into it. This is good for people like me who don't know how to swim, but sadly it was cold that day 😅.

Si bien creo que en esta parte no por la gran cantidad de escombros en la orilla, en algunas otras partes de la costa la gente se mete al agua a refrescarse en los días de calor. Por lo que nos contaba mi primo, esta agua y su gran contenido de sal te hacen flotar inmediatamente si te tiras en ella. Esto es bueno para personas como yo que no saben nadar, pero lamentablemente ese día hacía frío 😅.

Within this area, the most striking construction is what used to be the pool of an old hotel in the city. When I saw it for the first time, I imagined that it was some kind of chapel because of the large archway on its front, but later I investigated and realized that I was wrong. This pool still had some stagnant water, which could indicate that at some point the tide has come to cover it. I imagine this place was very luxurious before the great flood, but at least some of its memory still stands 😶.

Dentro de esta área, la construcción más llamativa que hay es lo que solía ser la pileta de un antiguo hotel de la ciudad. Cuando lo vi por primera vez me imaginaba que era una especie de capilla por la gran arcada que hay en su frente, pero más tarde investigué y noté que estaba equivocada. Esta pileta aún conservaba algo de agua estancada, lo que podría indicar que en algún momento la marea ha llegado a cubrirla. Me imagino que este lugar era muy lujoso antes de la gran inundación, pero al menos algo de su recuerdo sigue en pie 😶.

Between the weather we got and the grayness of the landscape itself, we were able to get some great photos of the landscape. This lagoon is so extensive that at times it seems that you are standing in front of the sea. That day, when looking at the horizon, you could hardly make out the separation between the sky and the water, which made the whole scene even more amazing. I think that a blue and clear day we would not have enjoyed it as much as with that weather, it was a great gift of nature ❤️.

Entre el clima que nos tocó y lo gris del paisaje en sí, pudimos obtener unas fotos geniales del paisaje. Esta laguna es tan extensa que por momentos parece que estas parado frente al mar. Ese día, al mirar al horizonte casi no se podía distinguir la separación entre el cielo y el agua, lo que volvía aún más genial todo el escenario. Pienso que un día azul y despejado no lo hubiesemos disfrutado tanto como con ese clima, fue un gran regalo de la naturaleza ❤️.

The same thing had happened when we visited Epecuén in the south of Buenos Aires: it was just a gray day for us to visit a gray place full of nostalgic history. I look at these photos and I still can't believe everything looked so cool. And luckily I was able to see it with my own eyes after having seen several videos of this place. There was no comparison 💕.

Lo mismo había pasado cuando visitamos Epecuén en el sur de Buenos Aires: justo nos tocó un día gris para visitar un lugar gris y lleno de historia nostálgica. Veo estas fotos y sigo sin poder creer que todo se veía tan genial. Y por suerte pude verlo con mis propios ojos después de haber visto varios videos de este lugar. No hubo comparación 💕.

If I have to take stock of this whole place, I would say that the ruins caught my attention a lot, but I was more fascinated by the effect of the salt on the trees. This looked like scenery from some magical movie, I couldn't believe it. And my surprise was even greater when I approached one of the fallen trunks, already defeated in its fight against the salt from the ground, and I noticed that it seemed to have hair! This was hilarious, you've probably never seen a hairy tree before, have you 😅?

Si tengo que hacer un balance de todo este lugar, diría que las ruinas llamaron bastante mi atención, pero más me fascinó el efecto de la sal sobre los árboles. Esto parecía escenografía de alguna película mágica, yo no lo podía creer. Y mi sorpresa fue aún mayor cuando me acerqué a uno de los troncos caídos, ya vencido en su lucha contra la sal del terreno y noté que parecía que tenía ¡pelos!. Esto fue muy gracioso, seguro nunca habían visto un árbol peludo, ¿o sí 😅?

I always really enjoy going to a beautiful place, photographing it and then remembering it again when I tell here what I experienced that day. I really liked getting to know this part of the beach, and it was good that we went because of all the walks we did in the surroundings of Miramar de Ansenuza, this was the one that impressed me the most and left me reflective. Nature is so incredible and it imposes itself on what belongs to it, claiming all its strength and reminding us of the power it has. And people have to know that this is always going to be like this and we have to adapt, because even after chaos something beautiful can flourish 💖.

Siempre disfruto mucho ir a un lugar hermoso, retratarlo y después volver a recordarlo cuando relato acá lo que viví ese día. Me gustó mucho conocer esta parte de la playa, y que bueno que fuimos porque de todos los paseos que hicimos en los alrededores de Miramar de Ansenuza, este fue el que más impresionó y me dejó reflexiva. La naturaleza es tan increíble y se impone sobre lo que le pertenece, reivindicando toda su fuerza y recordándonos el poder que tiene. Y las personas tenemos que saber que esto siempre va a ser así y hay que adaptarse, porque incluso después del caos puede florecer algo hermoso 💖.
