Macrobrachium rosenbergii
For your information, giant prawns have the following morphological characteristics:
The body is divided into three parts, the head of the chest, the body of the abdomen, and the tail.
The giant prawn body consists of segments covered with hard, inelastic skin and consists of chitin substance and has 5 segments, each of which is equipped with a pair of swimming legs, a hard shell of chitin, the second pleura covers the first and third pleura.
The distinctive feature of giant prawns that distinguishes it from other types of shrimp is the shape of the rostrum which is long and curved like a sword with 11-13 upper teeth and 8-14 lower teeth. On the chest there are five pairs of walking legs. In adult male giant prawns both pairs of legs grow very long and large, the length can reach 1.5 times the length of the body. Whereas in female giant prawns the growth of the 2nd leg is not so striking. The abdomen consists of five segments, each segment equipped with a pair of swimming legs. In female giant prawns this section is slightly wider, forming a kind of space for incubating eggs. Uropods are the last segment of the body whose swimming legs function as paddles or commonly known as fan tails. Uropods consist of an outer and inner part and a pointed tip called a telson.
