A Solemn Ceremony in the Streets

During Holy Week, I visited several shrines and participated in the grand processions honoring the Nazarene; it's an event where the entire community celebrates with great devotion. During those days, I wanted to experience the procession that departs from my own community; this time, I wanted a different kind of experience.

Un Acto Solemne En Las Calles

Durante los días de celebración por la Semana Santa, recorrí algunos santuarios y participé en esas grandes procesiones donde se le rinde culto al Nazareno; es una actividad donde todo el pueblo celebra con gran devoción. En esos días quise sentir la procesión que sale desde mi comunidad; esta vez, quería tener otra experiencia.

The participation of the parishioners was imbued with deep devotion; the songs and prayers blended into a single voice, the streets in the various neighborhoods were illuminated, and people thronged the streets, waiting to see the Nazarene. My pilgrimage was special because I walked beside the Nazarene; I never lagged behind. As night fell, the atmosphere grew solemn, and the clouds, trees, and the glow of the lanterns created the scene. It was a moment of profound reflection each time the image was carried on the shoulders of its parishioners.

La participación de los feligreses estuvo impregnada de mucha devoción; los cantos y rezos se unían a una sola voz, las calles en las distintas barriadas se encontraban iluminadas y las personas abarrotaban las calles, en espera de ver al Nazareno. Mi peregrinar fue especial porque iba al lado del Nazareno; en ningún momento me quedé atrás. Una vez que fue cayendo la noche, la atmósfera fue creando un ambiente de solemnidad y las nubes, árboles y algunos faroles con sus brillos crearon el escenario. Una escena de recogimiento, cada vez que la imagen era llevada en hombros por sus parroquianos.

During the walk, I noticed the respect for religious practices and the strong belief in the Catholic faith; it was an experience that allowed me to capture these moments through photographs, and I'm happy to share them with the community to participate in the #monomad challenge. The commitment each person has made to their prayers is very meaningful, as they fulfill them completely; I saw it reflected in their faces.

Durante la caminata noté el respeto hacia los actos religiosos y la marcada creencia en la religión católica; fue una experiencia que me permitió capturar estos momentos a través de las imágenes y un gusto traerlas a la comunidad, para participar en reto de #monomad. El compromiso que cada persona ha contraído por sus peticiones es muy significativo, ya que lo cumplen cabalmente, lo vi reflejado en sus rostros.

This activity was a commitment; it also allowed me to assess the level of commitment of the community and how they integrate themselves in an organized way to fulfill social and cultural events and maintain traditions with great religious fervor.

Esta actividad fue de compromiso; también me permitió valorar el grado de compromiso de la comunidad y cómo se integran organizados para cumplir con los actos sociales culturales y mantener las tradiciones con mucho fervor religioso.
