The Aquarium: A Must-Visit in Valencia (ENG-ESP)
ENGLISH
Going to Valencia and not visiting the aquarium is like not going to Valencia. That's what a man on the bus said to me when he saw me take out the camera to take a photo.
"Why are you taking photos?"
"I'm trying something, I'm going to the aquarium to take pictures."
"Oh, that place is nice, they fixed it up. You have to go."
Well, I had already been there (but I wasn’t going to explain that to a stranger, especially since my stop was coming up).
The Valencia aquarium is a place every Valencian has visited at least once in their life.
It had been years since I'd gone because I don't really like visiting places where animals are kept in captivity.
However, I wanted to see how it looked after a recent renovation.
Upon entering, I noticed the positive changes.
It looks modern (well, I'm no expert, but it does look much more modern than before).
You see, the aquarium was founded in the 1970s and it was showing its age.
One of its main attractions used to be a dolphin show, but that event has been canceled because the species is endangered. Capturing the animals (which isn’t right) is traumatic for them, and many die, so it's not worth the risk.
That's what a guide told me when I asked about the show.
I understand that at some point, the marketing department must have been looking for ways to attract the public, but honestly, I don't like seeing animals perform tricks to entertain humans.
Anyway, the point is that luckily, they no longer have those shows, but at least you can observe different species without them needing to be “cute” for you because their captivity is already a harsh enough reality.
The guide told me that many of the species are rescued from the wildlife trade.
There are exotic species like eels, piranhas, carnivorous turtles, among others.
I spent some time watching the fish. Luckily, I had the rooms to myself until a family arrived, whom I photographed and enjoyed seeing.
The room is dark and the little light comes from the tanks (I think).
They have an area with freshwater fish like cachamas (huge fish), piranhas, and saltwater fish like the lionfish, among many others.
One thing the guide told me about the lionfish is that it’s an invasive species that disrupts the ecosystem, so they recommend consuming its meat to reduce its presence.
I like the silence in the room. Although there are speakers playing informative clips about the fish.
Anyway, if you have any questions, the guides are more than willing to answer them.
The Valencia aquarium, fortunately, is no longer what it used to be.
You can see the evolution, and it's a positive change.
It's a trip you should take if you're in the city, not just to be entertained by the exotic species, but to learn about them and understand how important they are to the ecosystem.

Very interesting and very beautiful aquarium, the fish are beautiful, it's really amazing ❤️
Thanks
You're welcome friend ❤️
The variety of wildlife paintings in the place is amazing. Although the paintings of every wildlife and fish here look great. Yes, anything that really attracts and makes it look beautiful does work. It is certainly true that it is never understandable to keep animals captive and entertain them. I am always against it. There are many industries for entertainment. Best of luck to you
agree with you that it’s essential to appreciate the beauty of wildlife through art without keeping animals captive for entertainment. There are many ways to enjoy and celebrate the natural world without causing harm. Thank you
Very interesting picture theme
