My first wedding as a photographer (ENG-ESP)
I don't believe in God or marriage, but that doesn't mean I underestimate those who do. This is what I told myself when a friend told me he needed someone to cover a wedding.
Event coverage is one of the categories of commercial photography that interests me, because it allows you to capture unique moments, as in the case of documentary photography, which I am increasingly passionate about.
In this case, I met Luis and Genesis, a young evangelical Christian couple. The ceremony was modest and quite meaningful for them. Just by looking at their eyes, I could see what they call true love.
No creo en Dios ni en matrimonio, pero esto no quiere decir que subestime a quienes sí lo hacen. Esto me dije cuando un amigo me dijo que necesitaba a alguien que cubriera una boda.
La cobertura de eventos es una de las categorías de la fotografía comercial que me interesa, porque te permite captar momentos únicos, como en el caso de la fotografía documental, la que me apasiona cada vez más.
En este caso conocí a Luis y a Génesis, una pareja joven de cristianos evangélicos. La ceremonia fue modesta y bastante significativa para ellos. Con tan solo ver la mirada de ambos pude notar aquello que llaman amor verdadero.
Evangelical Christian weddings are different from Catholic weddings. In this case, the pastor was in charge of blessing them, and then both gave food offerings as a symbol of prosperity and their devotion to Christ.
I must confess that I gave more importance to the photographs than to the ceremony as such, but what I was able to observe, I liked because I saw it sincere. At least that was my appreciation, my skeptical side invites me not to idealize it.
However, to see a couple in love, and at ease with a belief, is something that not everyone has, and it is admirable.
This was my first wedding, and I am not closed to another opportunity, as long as there is no importance given to luxuries and what people will say, because there the essence of love is lost, which I tried to capture through these photographs.
Las bodas de cristianos evangélicos son distintas a la católica. En este caso, el pastor se encargó de bendecirlos, y luego ambos entregaron ofrendas de alimentos como símbolo de prosperidad y su devoción a Cristo.
Debo confesar que le di más importancia a las fotografías, que a la ceremonia como tal, pero lo que pude observar, me gustó porque lo vi sincero. Al menos esa fue mi apreciación, mi lado escéptico me invita a no idealizarlo.
No obstante, ver a una pareja enamorada, y que se siente a gusto con una creencia, es algo que no todo el mundo tiene, y es admirable.
Esta fue mi primera boda, y no me cierro a otra oportunidad, siempre y cuando no se le dé importancia a los lujos y al qué dirán, porque allí se pierde la esencia del amor, el que traté de captar a través de estas fotografías.
