I don't believe, but there's something I appreciate about churches (ENG-ESP)-Monomad challenge

I'm no architecture expert, but I enjoy observing the beauty of churches.

They truly are a gem. Honestly, it seems to me that you don't have to be a believer to appreciate a church.

That's how it is for me. I don't believe in God, much less religion, but I like walking among saints (or rather, sculptures of saints) and contemplating the arduous work of design and construction. For that reason alone, they deserve respect.

No soy experto en arquitectura, pero disfruto observar la belleza de las iglesias.

Realmente son una joya. Sinceramente, me parece que no hace falta ser creyente para disfrutar de una iglesia.

En mi caso es así. No creo en Dios, y mucho menos en la religión, pero me gusta caminar entre santos (o mejor dicho, esculturas de santos) y contemplar el arduo trabajo de diseño y construcción. Ya por eso merecen respeto.

I know atheists and agnostics who mock the Church. I laugh at memes and openly say it's nonsense, but there's a time and place for that.

Once, a guy I don't even know commented on a photo laughing at the "sinners," as he ironically called them.

I replied that I understood his sentiment, but it wasn't the right place for it.

The rest is about finding common ground, and that's when tolerance and respect get complicated.

For me, architecture is the bridge between the Church and me.

Conozco ateos y agnósticos que se burlan de la Iglesia. Yo me río de memes y digo abiertamente que son patrañas, pero hay momento y lugar para eso.

Una vez, un tipo que ni conozco comentó una foto donde se reía de los “pecadores”, como los llamó irónicamente.

Le respondí que entendía su sentimiento, pero no era el espacio para hacerlo.

El resto es que coincida, y ahí es cuando la tolerancia y el respeto se complican.

Para mí, la arquitectura es el puente entre la Iglesia y yo.
