Human beings have an innate need to record their life.

From the invention of painting and books to the camera, history has shown us that there's this obsession with leaving a mark.

And why not? After all, existence is fleeting.

Memories linger, but if they're not revisited at least occasionally, they can fade into complete oblivion, or even be distorted by emotion, which is almost the same thing.

When I watch videos recorded over 100 years ago, I see people posing, unaware that so much later, they'd somehow come to life again.

However, beyond just recording, it also depends on who preserves the memory, because if it's neglected, it's almost as if it never existed at all.

As a photographer, I'm a fan of taking spontaneous and natural photos. To me, those are the best because they show a person's true self. Sometimes, we tend to put on a show because we know it'll last, and that side doesn't reflect how we really feel. Other times, it does, and that's what makes recording so important—it invites us to understand all the nuances of existence.

El ser humano tiene la necesidad de registrar su día a día.

Desde la invención de la pintura, el libro, hasta la cámara, la historia ha enseñado que hay una manía por dejar huella.

¿Y por qué no? Si la existencia es pasajera.

Los recuerdos quedan, pero si no se consultan al menos de vez en cuando, pueden quedar en el total olvido, o incluso pueden ser tergiversados por la emoción, que vendría a ser casi lo mismo.

Cuando veo los videos que fueron grabados hace más de 100 años, veo a algunas personas que posan, sin saber que tanto tiempo después cobran vida de alguna forma.

Sin embargo, más allá del registro, también depende de quién preserve la memoria, porque si se descuida es como si no existiese tampoco.

Como fotógrafo, soy partidario de tomar fotos espontáneas y naturales. Para mí esas son las mejores porque denotan la verdad de una persona, debido a que a veces solemos mostrar un lado porque sabemos que perdurará, y ese lado no corresponde a cómo nos sentimos. Otras veces sí, y eso es lo que hace del registro algo tan importante, y es que invita a entender todos los matices de la existencia.
